Not me, I have been there and would probably go to all the HS there but they don't give a flip about riders cutting the course so I stay away. The HS course they had laid out when I went there was a bit on the easy side too.

If you are mainly referring to the track there are some folks here that probably have 1,000's of laps on it. AJ, Wardy, Nikki, Red ????

That is a problem with most Hare Scrambles. Just a suggestion; but have you considered helping with a race or two specificaly to address the problem? One highly visible course marshall can do worlds of good. A really good course marshall can be in three places at one time!!

Traditional checkpoints are worthless. After the first lap all the riders know where they are. Take the three people that a check requires and put them on bikes as course marshalls. Learn where the cuts are and hang out there for a bit before moving on to the next spot.

On the first couple of laps I like to hang out at the beginning of a cut. Make sure everyone sees you! The later laps I like to hang out at the end of a cut and turn the riders around if they venture the wrong way. Sort of an instant penalty.

The last lap I will hang out at the end of a cut; but just to write down riders numbers for submission to the referee.

If all the riders are aware of these efforts; they will stay on the trail pretty good.

Now; if we can just get a good definition of what seperates a "cut" from a "fast line"!!

The Missouri Hare scramble series defines a fast line as with 25 feet of the original course. the definition of cutting the course is any thing else. Most of the time things are fine unless it rains....then someitmes it is hard to remeber where the original course is!
I do work a race. The race course is set up in a very large loop so the shortest way is the course...the checks are set up in the only places that cuts can happen. We also recruit some regular joes to hang out in lawn chairs n some other locations and watch the race...give them an orange vest to wear and the racers think we have "marshall everywhere". it works!
