New MX lover in DC area.

It's been a while since I've been a noob at anything, so in an effort to keep life exciting I've decided (after years of wanting) to buy a dirtbike. I'm thinking a 125 is right for me (6'3 158) b/c it's something I can grow into and it should last a couple years.
I've raced jet-skis and will continue with that, but I also want to try my hand at MX racing. I've been lurking here a while and I know you all know what's up, so do you have any advice?
