XR 400 Shock Replacement

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

A buddy's XR400 rear shock was recently destroyed. What options does he have as a replacement? Let me know the approximate cost if you can.

I had a 96 XR400 that had the shock self destruct internally. I had the good fortune to find a very slightly used Ohlins for about $300. Massive difference. Where the stocker would hop and swap, this thing made it almost impossible to feel anything in the way of trail garbage. It just hooked up and tracked straight. I'd look around for a good, solid used one if he can be patient. A new one will suck your wallet dry.
Also, people that buy an aftermarket shock frequently sell the stock one through auctions or on forum lists. I saw one last week sell for $75 on an auction.

I'm looking for either a XR250, or XR400 oem complete shock. As long as the body is good, a seal replacement or rebuild, I can handle.
