Hi Rich, i have a new wr450 and have heard about the power now intake plates. Is it possible to make this at home or has some body have a template already? The intake bell on the carby is a part of the carby now and cannot be removed.
Does it make a difference in bottom end?
Being from australia the advertised cost is $99.00 us and this works out too $200.00 aust,a lot for something that may work.

Yes you can make your own. There are a few posts in this forum where people have described how they have done it. It's pretty simple and it's not as if it were some precision airflow device, so you should have no problem making one.

I'll leave it to you to decide if there are better ways to spend your time and money. :thumb:

How diplomatic Rich.

Rich have you made one or tried running one? I made one for a freinds bike and everyone one loved the way it ran after the install. I did not get a chance to ride it, I trashed my hip snowboarding so i could not ride but i had plenty of time to add a chunk of sheetmetal the the intake of a 250f

I have built and tested a number of upstream intake devices.

Do any of them work?
If so, which ones?
Inquiring minds want to know...

I personally haven't found any reason to leave one on any of my bikes. But then my bikes tend to run fuel that is easily vaporized and the jetting tends to be correct, so there may be some relationship. Your mileage and results may vary.

That aside I'm not a fan of reducing the effective throat area of the carb in the engines I have been trying it on (TTR 125 and YZF444).

The plate works for me, I make my own out of .020" stainless and get them very close to the slide. .060" The install improved throttle responce on my 01kx250 noticeably and on my sons 02rm125 even more. On the kaw I now run a 150 main and a 42 pilot. On the Rm I have a 430 main and a 30 pilot. But I also cleaned up the velocity stacks at the same time.
