Hi, I am 15 years of age and am looking for a first dirtbike. I have never ridden before. I have only ridden ATV. I am about 5'7'' and am a little on the heavy for a girl at about 175lbs. I want a bike for trails that is light (so I can pick it up from its side) but also moderatly fast. I will be riding in fields and trails mostly. If there is any sugestions on an easy maintainence, fun bike? Thanx in advance,
~Jamie

I GUESS I KNOW HOW YA FEEL ILL TRY AND HELP! ( NOT A GIRL THOUGH!) laugh!!!, every time i post with a similar question only one or two people ever reply, they ask a question and when i give the answer dont reply again. GOOD LUCK AND HERES MY OPINION!!!!, SINCE YOUVE RIDDEN ATVS YOU MAY BE OK ON A KAWASAKI KX100 2STROKE, ASK AROUND IF NOT TRY ANY 4STROKE 125 OR HONDA XR200! HOPE YA FIND WHAT YA ARE LOOKING FOR!
PS TRY AND FIND SOMEONE NAMED PLACELAST he seems to be very knowelegable and helped me>..

thx alot for helping me out.....yeah i kind of figured not to many people would respond. I was wondering also if maybe a KX80 big wheel or CR85 Expert with suspension modifications would work well for me. I want to get a smaller bike to be sure that i can handle it b/c i don't want too much power i want to be sure that i can handle what i'm riding and be able to put BOTH feet down on the ground. thx in advance.

pyrofreak -
here is a range of bikes to look into. they are not at all the same, but they fit your stated uses: CRF230, KDX200/220, WR250, KTM exc/mxc 200-250. you are tall enuf to fit most bikes, not just the ones i listed, but the bigger bikes (especially 4 strokes) get heavier.
i would not reccomend the KX 100 at all. it's too small. if you feel exceptionally brave and can find one, the late 90's KX250s are very light, very fast, and have very controlable power (for MX bikes).

you've asked the question a dozen times or so. if you haven't gotten the information you need, i think the problem is in the questions, not the answers. plus that you've asked questions about obscure brands or models; how are we supposed to know about them?

jeremiah, a SUZUKI RMX250 is not an obscure model or brand a KAWASAKI KDX200 is NOT an obscure model or brand, albeit the beta alp maybe!, and 125 motox are not unknown, and its not as if 80% of people on this site havent either owned or ridden one.
sorry not trying to argue, but a 250 motocross although have an okish powerband will very quickly lift the wheel and overwehlm the rider, trust me i know! and a friend of mine who races r6's sitting beside me!!! also thinks so! his ''99cr250 supermoto is amazingly powerfull and makes you always feel on the edge of safety'' according to a consistant 140mph podium finisher. i would reccemmond the kx100 as she said again that she wants a bike that she can touch the ground on. i feel that they are the next best to a 125, they dont accelerate as quick as an 80 unless ya want them to. and have a more useable powerband, perhaps if its possible try and fit 125 wheels on her(not sure if it can be done) the extra 2" on the kx100 may be better than a cr80.
a 4stroke is heavy! but powerwise more manageable, if ya can get your hands on one try a derbi senda100, parts are cheap, mods are available, and they are easy to ride as they dont have a powervalve, they are good on a built woods track with no obsticles, but lack a bit in the open! good luck!

blanc... for someone asking a lot of questions most of the time you also like to give out a lot of bad advice.
Why don't you try to read more and post less. You have a lot to learn and this is the place to learn it.
