What do I need to buy?

I haven't ridden in 15 years and I just bought a 2003 CR250 and a CRF150 for my wife. I'm trying to think of all the items I will need to ride and maintain the bikes before I pick them up. I will be riding in the Southern CA deserts which I have never done before. I grew up on the East Coast. I also have limited space to store items. Please let me know if there are any must have items that I'm missing.

Bikes, utility trailer, tie downs, 2 gas cans, Oil, Chain Lube, Air filter Oil (Do you still use gas to clean filter), Helmets, Gloves, Boots, Goggles, Basic Tool Box, WD40, Cleaning Agent. ???

That's a pretty good list. Instead of using gas to clean your filter, get a Twin Air filter cleaning/oiling kit. The only other thing you might consider is an EZ-UP. Shade is definitely worth the $99 when you're out in the desert.

Do not use gas. I recommend No-toil filter oil and cleaning kit. It is bio degradable and much eaiser to use. I've been using it for two years with no issues. Also get an extra air filter for each bike so you clean them you can hang them to dry and oil and install the dry one from the week before.

Wait a minute, CR250 2-stroke??? I do not believe that will be green sticker legal in CA and you may not be allowed to ride it in the desert or on any public land!!!

How 'bout elbow pads, knee pads, roost protection, kidney belt? Large cooler? Hand guards and/or extra clutch and brake levers. Tire pump with gauge. I got one in the bicycle section of Target for $20. In sand 12psi rear is all you need. In your tool kit, duct tape and zip ties.

The bottom line is that it comes down to enforcement. In general, Law Enforcement personnel realize that the stickers pay their salaries. There is also a way to deal with the issue that is better left unsaid in this forum. People who work in the industry can tell you what that is.
