Not sure what to make of that...half of me feels compassion for him, and the other half thinks that he is an idiot

Everybody (and I mean everyone), learns the hard way. Some of us learn from it and some don't, hopefully he will. Sadly things of this nature happen way to often. With hime being a Pro rider, of course everyone is going to know about this, and it makes it that much easier for people to point fingers. I'ts just to bad that one of his friends had to help HIM learn the hard way. I hope he learns anyway.

I completely agree with the both of you. I'm still speechless though. Still don't know what to think.

It's not like no one else has done something like this, however. It's just that we're not all celebrities, so news doesn't spread like wildfire.

"We must learn from others mistakes, because life is to short to make all the mistakes ourselves" ....the quote went something like that anyway. Can't remember who said it.

I agree with everybody here. Lets now hope that TP can learn from his mistakes. That will let everybody know what kind of a kid he really is!
This might also clue him in to the fact that he is not invincible. He has to many good qualitys under all stupidity.

Good observation Zoomer.

He's still just a kid. Of course he's going to make some poor decisions. I am just glad that things were not even worse than what they are for him.

We ALL were at that age. I don't think anyone here in their right mind can claim that they'd handle fame at a young age better than anyone else. Cripes, I am glad I didn't have a brand new 'vette as a teen. I can almost gaurantee that I wouldn't be here today.

there as been lots of people who wreck cause of deer in road. maybe it was unavoidable at any speed, who knows.. but it takes a big man to accept a mistake and say they are sorry. i hope he will be ok along with his friend.

I truly hope he learned his leason, before he kills either himself or someone else. When his head is on straight, he is a really neat kid!

Part of me thinks that there really was no deer. I was younger once too, and I know that going off road because of bad judgement happens. The deer story was used way, WAY too much with all my other friends. Kids just do not like to own up to making a mistake sometimes... He might have been better off hitting the deer if that was the case anyway.... now, one of his close friends has no feeling in his legs, still... I agree with all you guys on this topic and many people (including myself) have to learn the hard way... it really is too bad that someone else was involved... I hope that both young men will heal and get through this terrible ordeal.

Good point, and I agree with you about hitting the deer rather than swerving, but not in a corvette! By the sounds of it, he was moving pretty fast, and if there were a deer and he had hit it in that car, he would have been wearing it.

We have a similar line of 'a stray dog ran out' ive used it myself, however he was out late, obviously going fast , i think we can read between the lines.I feel its good he has made the statement, but its only the first part of the equation-he needs to think/learn(before the event) and make alot less stupid decisions. He is young but that wont help a family of any people he hurts/kills.Trouble is so far he doesnt appear to be changing his ways.Lets hope this wake up call makes a difference.
