Well who all is planning on going this year? I believe the poker run is on Sat the 28th. and the HS is the 29th. If I am not forced out of town for work I'll be there Sunday!

FYI This one raises a lot of $$ for the March of Dimes Birth Defect Foundation.

I am considering interning in this race. I have a few questions as this would be my first motorcycle race.
Are the established St. Joe trails used for most of the race or do they make there own trails for the race?
I noticed from the pictures that there seemed to be a long section of paved road that I would run on. How long will I be pined in 6th gear trying to fend off the tankslapper? (not that tankslappers slow you down that much but I like all my bones where they are right now)
Do I need all full AMA compliance with the number plate and bike prep?
How are the classes divided? If the Beginner and C class run at the same time I’d like to inter C to see how I do in the points (not that I am expecting anything great but I am still a racer.) What I want to avoid is my down bike (as it will may be sometime) to trip up a better computer.
How are the turns marked? I could probably install a rally computer but it would hard to find a place for the co-driver.

If this is your first race just go and enter the “C” class. It doesn’t matter where you end up. You don’t need any numbers, computers or anything. Just a bike and make sure you have some kind of drink system. I run this race every year. (Sunday’s HS) It’s usually pretty fun, but it’s usually pretty hot. They use trails on the outside of the public riding area. It’s a mixture of all kinds. I’ve raced just about every race at St. Joe in the last few years and it has a wide verity of terrain. (rocks) You can run any pace your comfortable with. Just try to stay out of the way of the MHCS guys (their racing for points) and you’ll probably have fun. I know in the past that if you sold so many dollars worth of raffles you didn’t need an entry fee. Check out a local dealer, they should have fliers. (Donalson’s)

Don't need AMA card to ride. If you are riding the YZ125 in your profile & enter the C200 class, you'll start 3 lines from the end, right in front of the Juniors. If you enter the Beginner class, you'll start on the last line.
Go to the MHSC site HERE to learn more about the Missouri series. Note that the web page has been suffering some problems last couple days. Normally there are a series of links on the left side of the page with info on classes & such.
By the time you go through after 300+ bikes, the turns will be evident.

I can't wait for the Park Hills race. This will be my 5th time racing because the MHSC does this race twice a season. The sand's fun, but kills the power on a KX100.
Hope to see ya' at the races, I'll be the one with Bart Simpson on the back of my chestprotector.

I do plan on running my 93 125 (I didn’t realize that my profile info would not show on my post). I have just sheared off my kick-starter so I’ll be there if I can get it replaced in time.

Jayhawk,
Are you going to this event? I'm thinking of making it my HS debut. I'm riding an 03 KDX 200 with KX inverted forks. Is the starting area at the parking lot by the sand flat? Would you ride this event without a skid plate? What class do you ride? Give me some info and I'll try to find you.

Tom, not sure yet if I will make it for the HS. Planning on riding the Poker Run with my son the day before, not sure about coming back down for the next day.
I think the starting area is over by the old mine facility, just off of Hwy 32. As far as a bash plate, there are a few trails that I've seen at St. Joe's where it would be a good idea, but then again I rarely feel it hit anything. I've not ridden this course before so can't really comment on whether it's an absolute. My hunch is that since they need to anticipate 12 year olds on YZ85's in the Junior class, then the boulders/logs probably won't be too huge. By tomorrow there should be some input by the MHSC regulars who've ridden the course before - Katoomer, jeffw, 94ruck et al.
If I make it I'll be driving a green Escape towing a utility trailer, and probably ride 200C.

Ken,
Thanks, the poker run sounds fun, my son just got a TT-R125 last week so he may be interested in doing that. I'm not sure I'll make either but I'll try to let you know. Grey Honda Oddysey pulling a utility trailer.

TVRider - IF the course is the same as last year it wouldn't bother me at all to ride without a skidplate. Last years course was nowhere near as rocky as the normal riding area at St. Joe. No idea if the course will be the same this year though. Maybe Gnarlykaw knows??

Ok fellas the race is this sunday. I'll be there with my pit crew (GoSpeedRacer). Silver Toyota Tundra, hopefully somewhere along the GP style track (start section). We'll have an ez-up so if anyone wants to join us, bring yourselves on over.
See you at the races!
