You fall asleep during sex?

Posted by: wibby---------------------

Whatever you do, try not to think or worry about it. I try to clear mind of anything at all. If I have something on my mind I can lay there for hours.

Posted by: nephron---------------------

What the hell exactly is sleep?
I have no use for it, whatever it is.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

I'll get enough sleep when I'm dead.

Posted by: Jaybird---------------------

I could even sleep on a bed of snakes....but only for about 4-5 hours.

(Bill...I'll e-mail you some technique tips sos you won't be such a sleep inducer)
:flame:

I'll sleep when i'm dead too..

Busy Mind? When my wife and I started going out, I'd work 3rd so sometimes I'd put her to bed She slept like crap..I caught her one night drifting off, mumbling her list of stuff to do the next day, just like Holly Hunter in the movie Always...I though how the ****can she sleep like that?

I suggested she keep a notepad by the bed and when she thought of something she wanted to remember the next day just write it down and clear her mind of it for the night...

Works to this day..that was 1990...maybe it'll help..

Exercise can help but when you do it (earlier or before bed) effects people differently..

Nytol. I get into those phases about once or twice a year when I can't get to sleep so I just take some Nytol at 9PM or so, hit the sack and usually fall asleep by 10. Once my sleeping routinge is re-established I stop taking them. When I have a lot on my mind I have a hard time getting to sleep too.

Try melatonin tablets. It is a natural sleep inducer found in our bodies that reduces in production as you get older, stressed out, under the effects of nicotine, alcohol, caffeine, etc. It is a great way to get your natural sleep pattern back and not be groggy in the morning from sleep aid drugs.

Also, what is your excercise routine consisting of. I always sleep much better when I am physically active. A warm soak in the spa or bath tub also helps in melatonin production.

Ambien rocks!!!

Posted by: MONKEYMOUSE---------------------

I'm the same way. . .but for me nothing works and I mean nothing. I just allways have so much on my mind, I'll lay in bed for hours. I've goten used to living of 4-5 hours of sleep a night I guess. . .

Posted by: Pokie---------------------

long hot shower....works 90% of the time for me!....

Posted by: Chief---------------------

I work nights 6 pm to 6 am. 4 nights on, 4 off. When I'm off I go to a day schedule. I actually slept less on days and several times went into a 12 hour shift with no sleep at all.

I'll leave out the bad stuff and tell you what works for me:

Late night swim
Avoid raw onions caffeine and garlic evenings
Warm cup of milk
Count all your blessings (even the stupid little ones aren't so stupid if you imagine life without them)
Chant (yea I'm nuts)
Get out of bed and prepare for your next day
Read
Don't get pissed that you aren't sleeping.
Try sleeping outside in the cool night air if possible.
Try counting as high as you can
Discovery Channel
No Video Games

Man I'm Getting Tired

Good Luck.

Chief

Going on DRN late in the evening is no way to get sleep-trust me on this one.I think its down to preparing your body for rest-you need to wind down as the evening draws in-i am terrible at this but i think its good advice.

Damn, if only this was in the STM forum

I've typed up a list of sleep hygiene measures, and have it here somewhere. If people are serious about it, I'll put them up. Briefly, the bed isn't supposed to be used for anything other than sleep or sex. No TV. No Reading. You're supposed to go downstairs or another room for that and continue until completely exhausted, then come back to bed. Turn the light off. Relax.

I'm not joking here. It sucks, but it works. And then you'll get used to it. Most people who are good sleepers learn to do that.

But I'm with Okie...I'm not interested in sleep. If I'm up...all the better. It's just more time for me to soak in more info for my junky brain.

No exercise after supper. Raises total catecholes. etc.

Yeah, and Ambien? You could operate on me with that stuff. You've got to be careful. That stuff puts you in an entirely different universe...first time I took it, my wife said I was walking around the room talking to walls and spitting on things. Be in bed when you take it. You won't get tired. You'll just suddenly leave this world. Next thing you know, it's AM, and there's no hangover.

funny, the two of those (TV and reading, in bed) put me to sleep every time. Hell, I gotta fight to keep my eyes open when I go horizontal!

Posted by: nephron---------------------

That's because you're the LEAST nervous guy I've ever ...well, I haven't met you. Most people in this industrialized, stressful country go to bed with a ton of frets. Not you, man. I can tell that for sure. And that's a compliment.

You'd be surprised how big a so-called 'problem' insomnia is in this country.

Posted by: nikki---------------------

I do the long hot shower thing too...

But another option that Red and I utilize is the power of Nyquil... good stuff.

Posted by: Chief---------------------

I coulda said that too but I only put in the good stuff

Posted by: Gary B.---------------------

I have to listen to some boring talk radio show on AM. Works like a charm for me.

Posted by: nephron---------------------

Art Bell?

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

I actually am asleep about 5 seconds after my head hits the pillow. I don't go to bed until I'm ready though and don't care if I get 3 hrs or 8 hrs of sleep. If I'm not tired at 2:00 am I just find things to do until I'm tired.

Posted by: Farmer John---------------------

I lay down... My wife wants to "talk"... I fall asleep.

My wife is an E/R doc, & works some screwed up hours. When she is home at night we go for walks & this normally relaxes me to the point that I have no problem sleeping. When she works it is a whole diffent story. I get the kids to bed around 9/9:30 & then go to the garage. I work on whatever there untill I am exausted (usually around 1/1:30). Then I go to bed only to get up @ 5:30 for work.

I don't think my staying awake is as much stress as it is boredom. If I try to go to bed when I'm not tired I start thinking/woring about stuff that, in the long run, doesn't mean diddle.

I've been using Sonata for a year or so now. Good stuff. . . freaky dreams

(Adrenaline)

Hey guys and gals, ETOH puts you to sleep, but destroys REM and stages 3 & 4 sleep. Several days in a row of drinking yourself to sleep will make you feel like a zombie. Same thing for anything that agonizes inhibitory GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) receptors...Xanax, Valium, Halcion (Benzo's and Barbiturates in general). Ambien and Sonata (Zolpidem & Zaleplon) are novel drug compounds. No one knows exactly how they work. But they make me hallucinate like LSD, except I miss the experience myself (no...haven't tried LSD). They do not, however, interfere with sleep architecture. Which is also why they cost about 3 dollars a pill.

Posted by: kmccune---------------------

Sleep........what is that? It drove Amy crazy for the first 6 or 7 years that we were married that she went to bed 2 hours before me and got up 1-2 hours after me. If you don't feel tired don't get in bed, you may be tired in the morning after you do go to sleep, but get up and do your thing. Don't stress about it, it will only make it worse and tomarrow you WILL be tired. Oh and a nice Irish Stout never hurts ether!

WooHoo, exactly. I am of the opinion that some people sleep WAY too much. It seems to me (through experience) that the more I sleep (and the more lathargic I am) the more sleep I seem to need/want. Try to be at least a bit active when you are awake, burn some calories, do something.

Posted by: yz250roost---------------------

actually what works for me is to think of some project that I have to do on my bike, (hopefully a complicated one) and start working on it in my head. Like when I had to strip my bike to the frame I mentally took apart the bike bolt by bolt, and I never got to finish it because by that time I was sound asleep. Try it it really works.

Posted by: Velocipede---------------------

Funny Question. I happen to be a sleep lab technician. Ambien is the way to go if you need a med to sleep. How long have you been having problems??
