spark arester registration?

I have a 97 GG JTX 270 and I was told to ride in the UTE Cup I would need a spark arester Now I know it has one cause I took it apart to repack when i bought the bike BUT... all the canister has on it is a Part# when i show up how am i going to get it registered because it does not say it is US Foresty aproved?
