Celebrating a Milestone

I don't know how we did it, but today my wife and I are celebrating 25 years of marriage. (Yeah, I got hitched young, so..........)

I had the day off, and took her to lunch where I surprised her with a gold necklace with three diamonds-- the first diamond representing our past years together; all the good, the bad, the triumphs, the struggles-- the second diamond representing our present; the place where our journey together has brought us so far--and the third diamond a representation of our future together.

Well, it was really cool watching her trying to hold back the tears, and I knew it was a shocker for her since I've never been one to splurge on jewelry. When she got home she showed it off to our oldest daughter and said, "Look, dad did good!

We'll do the real celebrating this weekend when we have time to crack open a couple of bottles of the grape and reminicse about our lives together over these past years.

Since we were high school sweethearts, we dated for more than 5 yrs. before we got married, so it's really been 30 yrs. together! Man, I'm so used to her that I can't imagine life without her!

I just wanted to share this with you all and let you know that it is possible to love one person for a very long time. Those of you that are married and going throgh tough times: never give up hope. Love is a commitment, and if you both stay committed the good times will come back again. We know; we've lived it!

Congradulations. I admire anyone that can stay focused on what's real for the long haul. :thumb:

She not only moved out to the desert with me, but she bought the KTM!

Thanks to all for the warm wishes! My grandparents were married 63 years before my Grandfather passed on, and they were a big part of my life, so I want to do like they did and stay married forever!:thumb:

Okie----I can guarantee you that the next 5 years will fly by, and you'll be saying, "wow, look at us, we made it!"

I would be willing to bet money that you've had a good example to follow.

Way to go mate, that's something worth celebrating.

Congrats to both of you! :thumb: We just celebrated 15 years here but we started dating at age 12 in grade seven so we've been together for 25 years and I know exactly how you feel when you stated "I can't imagine life without her."
