knee protectors and raw knees

How do you folks keep your knee protectors from rubbing raw spots on your knees?
Are there good, comfortable protectors that don't?
I've thought of over the knee socks but I haven't seen any in a wicking fabric like Coolmax.
Any recommendations on knee and elbow protectors would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I use those long over the knee motox socks although they may seem warm when I put them on once I'm riding I don't really notice them. I do notice the knee, shin gaurds while riding without them so i think it is just a good idea.

Asterisk sells knee covers (long stockings, basically, but open at both ends). Not sure of the fabric, but it doesn't seem to get wet. You just wear mx socks plus these things. Gets a little hot sometimes, but beats having my knees rubbed raw.

I wear a pair of running pants, skin tight like tights, under my riding pants. I too had raw spots on my legs after one ride with braces.

Not sure if you are talking about using knee braces or knee pads.
Can't comment on the braces, but I can on the pads. I have a pair of Shift knee pads. They were $7.95 from Dennis Kirk. They hold up great, no I mean it, a 10+. I wear long socks, just below the knee. Then the pads, then boots, then Oneal freeride pants(gets too hot in the summer)(Moose XCR for winter). I have never had a problem with them rubbing on my knees or any where else.
Hope this helps. :thumb:

I run the Fox Raptor knee/shin gaurds and long socks (just below the knee). They are very comfortable and I have yet to rub my knees raw.
