I saw "Fork Blocks" for sale at http://www.donovansspeedshop.com/onlinespeedshop/productdetails.asp?intProdID=70&cat=2&subcat=14&Manid=0 and wondered if they are a good thing to have for somebody like me who travels a lot. I can see the point of them...I have often wondered how bad it is for the forks to be that compressed for 2 hours or however long the ride is. Do you guys think that it is a worthwhile thing to have? It's only $13.95 from that site. Thanks in advance. *Winter Rules*

I made mine out of a 2 x 2 and some metal flashing. (free)

The guy that sold me my bike gave me a home made one made from a 4X4 with some ply. I used it once, it did not let the forks compress enough to keep it from flapping around in the truck. I dont use one and I keep my WR sinched down in my van all the time, thats where it lives, and I have never had a fork seal blow or andy adverse spring problems yet. I dont wicnch the thing down untill the tire hits the fender either like some guys do, just enough to keep good tension on the straps and bike.

I use an 11" piece of 2x4. No fancy cuts, just 11 to 12 inches long. It doesn't look flashy and all my ridin friends laugh at me, but it works. It helps you the the bike down better, extends fork seal life, and it's easy. It's probably better on your springs not to be halled in such a compressed state all of the time too.

Use an empty 5 litre (whatever that is in gallons) plastic oilcanister with the lid on. Place it between the fender and the tire, tie down and you´re ready to go!
