DirtWeek 2003 - Official Schedule Of Events

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

As with anything in life, this *could* change, but is as close as possible to being set in stone.

Note:
Before you leave for DirtWeek, print this out and bring it with you. We will have it posted under the Big Top and will discuss each day's events (and any changes) at the Rider's Meeting each morning. It's still a good idea to bring a copy. As I said, you should print this just before you leave to catch any changes that may happen.

There are some time slots marked "TBD: Will advise morning of event".
There are some folks who want to put together a ride or race of some kind in those slots. Stay tuned for more information, they will make information available here and after the rider's meetings.

[Notice]
This year like the last, we have set time for Kids and New riders to use each of the two main MX tracks. There seemed to be some confusion last year about what "New Rider" meant.

1. "Kids" This means young ones who are fairly new to riding and would like a chance to ride the tracks without fear of getting landed on. This does not mean the local moto star that happens to be a kid. If Jr. can clear or nearly clear ANY of the obstacles on either of the tracks, they don't belong out there during this time.

2. "Beginner" Age doesn't matter. This means NEW riders or those that seldom ride, someone who isn't confident enough to attempt a table top, or any of the other jumps out there. Wife or husband just start riding? Wife rides once or twice a year? Grandma wants to take a spin on the AF?

This doesn't mean you can ride the tracks during this time because:

"I'm a experienced woods rider, I am a beginner on MX Tracks"
"I'll just roll everything"
"I was going really slow and being careful not to land on anyone"

You can however follow your new/young rider around the track for instructional, confidence and/or safety reasons.

This year we will have a sign at the entrance of each track when it's closed to others than kids/beginners. The schedule is shown above and will be posted under the big top as well as mentioned during the rider's meeting each morning.

Let's make sure that EVERYONE get's to enjoy the tracks. Please use common sense.

No men's/woman's harescrambles?

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Read my second post

Posted by: rv6junkie---------------------

Ahh, surprise rides. Mystery rides. I like that!

Posted by: GETMETOCA---------------------

I was looking forward to the men's/women's Harescramble too! I'm hoping one of the mystery rides ends up being this :thumb:

I understand that Julius Pleaser may be putting together a pit bike race at DW. You may want to contact him there for more info.

I also hear that Nikki is putting togther a tag team MX race of some kind, you may want to see her there.

There's a rumor that someone is putting together a hare scramble of sorts, will let you know when I find out who it is.

Posted by: evenslower---------------------

Hey JP, can my ride on your fitty be for the pit bike race?

Looks like a full week. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: LoriKTM---------------------

The only REAL conflict I see with that schedule is that the Women's MX school and Patman's Trials & Tribulations events overlap.   I bet there's a number of women (like me!) who would like to attend both.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

All we need is 8 days in a week and 32 hours in a day.

Posted by: nikki---------------------

I hear ya Lori - maybe we can move Womens MX school sometime between 12:00-2:00 on Thursday as nothing is scheduled in this time slot. I would say 12:30-1:30 (or 2:00) would be best so multi-evented people could grab a lunch from 12:00-12:30?

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

How's that?
Had to change some times on Thursday, can't have one event ending right when another starts (if possible).

Posted by: Blue Thunder---------------------

Looks good to me! Glad the team scramble was moved to Friday, more folks should be at DW by that point in the week. Looks fun, can't wait, I'm getting pumped. The torn and teathered jersey's are all ready for action!!

Posted by: dkortje---------------------

I definitely need the Wed PM moto school (although I realize you can only do so much with limitted coordination ). I only signed up for thur, fri, and sat. I can't get there till 4:00 on wed. Can I pay for wed when I get there, or do I need to send another check.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

If you get there early enough to ride, that day is payable. See me or Pokie (at DW) if that's the case.

Ive seen Gomer in drag,, its not as cool as it sounds even

I'll stick to letting him wear more normal clothes and racing him to the twinkie bin.
