Pit Wagon

Has anybody made or used one of these? In auto racing they're called War Wagons or Pit Wagons.

Seems like a good idea to have everything in one place, and be able to use the same tools and stuff in the garage and at the track.

I'm thinking about making one, wondering if anybody has any suggestions on design, materials, etc.

Here's what I'm talking about:

Do you seriously think you need that many tools at the track? It looks like overkill to me! Maybe you could build just a utility trailer with mounts up front for a roll-away chest, leaving room behind the chest to haul a couple of bikes.

Option #2 could be to just find a nice used enclosed trailer and build a little shop area in the nose.

Yeah I know, a small toolbox and a milk crate full of oils is more practical and a lot cheaper! But it's a long winter!

I was thinking of a scaled-down version to haul in my 16' enclosed trailer.

I have a fairly robust toolchest in my garage, and like the idea of being able to easily transport it and other necessities between the garage and track. As of now, I have a separate smaller toolbox with a separate set of tools for the trailer/track.

I don't think i want my tools that portable without someone sitting nearby. These carriers are necessary at auto races where the "hot" pit is some distance from your transporter - in many cases you can't get to the transporter while the track is "hot". Also, for venues where multiple events use the same pit in a day - they will "parade" their equipment in with the cars between the events.
