knee braces

Anybody try the Thor Force knee braces? If so, how well do they support (or work as knee support)? Are there any other knee braces that are cheap and good made by EVS, CTI2, etc.? Thanks a lot.

How Cheap?

For a good pair of braces (as in not top quality, but work well) from EVS your looking at roughly $130 a peice. The SX02's from EVS aren't the greatest but do offer some protection. The AMX5's are nice and offer better support and better protection than the SX02's but aren't as nice as the RS7's. Hope this helps.

Good braces are pricey! Look through the sizing charts for EVS, Asterisk and Innovation Sports (CTI2, Edge) to get your size, then watch the auctions on ebay. If you can get a good deal on braces from Innovation, you can send them in and have them refurbished,I'm not sure if Asterisk offers the same service. Don't bother with the junk braces, ACL reconstruction isn't much fun.

choice your poison, $500 for a good knee brace or $6000 knee reconstruction and a missed season.

i always hear about them breaking femurs though, but a broking femur is a lot better than knee reconstruction and your femur is harder than concrete so if you crash hard enough to break that you crash hard enough to destroy your knees anyways.

I'm confused about something, are the rs7's sold for $185 each and not a pair?

That price would be each. I have had the EVS braces and now hace Asterisk cells. I would strongly reccomend spending the extra money and get a quality brace. There is no comparison in quality comfort and protection

In general do people use the high end knee braces (asterisk, etc.) after they have injured a knee or as a preventative measure? I was surprised to hear about Ricky Carmichael blowing out his knee. I would have thought he would use them all the time.

Thanks,

Walt

I wish I had used Asterisk Cells long ago but they were not around and I was bulletproof anyway  Speaking from the "trashed knees and now older and wiser" side of the fence getting a top quality brace and using it is way smarter than dealing with the results of not doing it. I look at the braces as insurance not a 100% guarentee that I won't have ANY damage ever. I've had a few close calls and am positive that in a few instances things would have been REAL ugly if I had not of been wearing them. Spend the money now for some top quality braces :thumb:
