LArocco? RC?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: storytime---------------------

A buddie saw on the internet somewhere that La rocco fell off a roof and broke his pelvis and will be out of action for a long time has anyone else herd this?
Also I herd yesterday Ricky Carmichel tore up his ACL bad and is out for the SX season? Also herd it happened while he was riding a CRF450?

Posted by: Sawblade---------------------

Haven't heard anything about the rock, but check out this thread on RC.

Thanks sawblade I have been looking for conformation on any of this for a few nights now !

Posted by: TheGrinch---------------------

Clearly you haven't been looking at DRN. Shame on you.

Posted by: Yogurt---------------------

That's the first I heard about The Rock. I hope it's nothing more than a rumor. Maybe he was doing the next dangerous thing to riding Supercross, hanging up Christmas lights! lol!
And for RC, yes he is out indefinitely. And he tore up his ACL without even crashing, while riding the big thumper, which he still plans to race when he comes back.

Mikes dad is the one that fell off the roof and broke his hip, the Rock is in tack at this point.

Haven't you been reading the Wind Tunnel thread, Ricky stated he was not switching to the 4-stroke until the outdoor season. So if he hurt his knee practicing for SX it would have been on the 2-stroke.

Racer X reported that RC was testing the 450 last week with plans on using it in SX this season. That was before they reported he was out with the ACL injury.

his ACL injury is not something new, it is an old injury that RC has finally decided is bad enough to warrent surgery

Now there is some inside stuff... care to name a source?

I heard that before too, either on this Forum, or on RacerX. It might have been in the "RC-Out" thread.

Ok here it is, originally posted by "zcookie49", page 2 of the "RC-out" thread:

"No doubt Rc has to be hatin...I just read that Kehoe stated that the injury was pre-existing, and that RC didnt crash on the thumper, just aggravated it more, to the point that the ACL needs reconstruction.... Does that mean that he has been racing all along with a bad knee? If so, he is one tough SOB."

Posted by: HiG4s---------------------

Let see, RC himself said he was not going to run the 450 until the outdoor season, RacerX said he was switching to the 450 for SX.
Hmmm? You're right, RacerX is a much more reliable source.

Posted by: super rat---------------------

Dude it was all over the net that he was in a panic because Kdub was turning faster laps at the test track so he was testing the thumper.

RC said his piece on Wind Tunnel over a month or so ago. The Racer X stuff was breaking news last week as RC changed his mind.

RC said the Nationals at a time when he thought he would only do the 4 stroke at the Nationals but times changed.

super rat--is that true? Seems like an irrational move to me. KW used to spank TP in practice (last yr of SX/Suzuki), but was a wet noodle come racetime. (TP and KW both confirmed that Kevin even lapped him once). I can't imagine anyone thinking a thumper would be an advantage (yet) for SX. Kevin's dedicated to that bike, and just frankly fast. He'd possibly be faster on a 250.

Posted by: super rat---------------------

Nephron check it ; http://racerxill.com/pages/news/news_112603.cfm

I think RC really felt like he didn't have the speed to run with Reed and maybe kdub so he was trying somthing different. I even read that he didn't want Kbud at the test track while he was testing. It sucks with all of the injuries I bought my tickets for Phoenix and now I don't know if I want to make the trip, maybe I'll just go to two nationals this year.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Hang on a second... wasn't it you rat talking about RC having a choice and NOT electing to ride the Thumper? "Thinking of trying something different" Or "trying something faster" ?

Sorry guys... by '05 those smoky things will be the minority. Inside and out. Screw emotion, face the fact-ola.

Posted by: super rat---------------------

You think a thumper is going to win a title this year? I don't.

Oh yeah? Wanna put your money where your..uh... keyboard is?

Posted by: super rat---------------------

You gotta be kidding me right? After all the jumping up and down you made me do to get my money out of you.

I was talking about the SX, I'm prety sure we will see a thumper win a outdoor title this year.

Jumping up and down? Put your real email in the profile and there wouldn't have been a delay dillweed.

Posted by: mxer842---------------------

ok, like it matters if your riding a two-stroke of four-stroke when you have an unlimited budget. if someone wins a national championship on a thumper they would have won it on a two-stroke. what you should really watch is your local pro class, the person that won my local 125A championship won one a stock yz250f(ok, he had triple clamps and renthal bars, but thats it) against some very trick 2smokes.

i would estimate that 90% of the pros here still ride two-stokes. the four-strokes are more popular in the novice and intermediate classes.

rc was riding the four-stroke. marshall plumb posted this on mxstates. if you don't know who marshall plumb is, then you probably should stay out of the debate:

"For all you people I was at Rickys house lasr week with Justin Bogle, he was going to race the four stroke and will do so outdoors. He never crashed when he blew his knee out, was torn before hand and was going to try and tough it out. He will be strong when outdoors comes along and is really excited to defend his OD title. He also said he was 2 seconds a lap faster on the four stroke. For all you negative people towards ricky, Dream on he is a champion as well as a great person, just ask people that have meet him."

Posted by: HiG4s---------------------

He had torn ACL before and was still riding? I'm not a big RC fan, but I say this qualifies him to be put in the Crazy Ironman Class with The Rock and The Rhyno. Now he just needs a nickname as tough as he is.

Man, my knee hurts just thinking about having a torn ACL.

Posted by: jboomer---------------------

I thought he was a little more disciplined than that.

Posted by: angry jim---------------------

My brother played basketball for 3 years with a SEVERED, not torn ACL. His knee would dislocate a few times a year, but he never missed a day of work. The doctor told him it wasn't completely necesarry for everyday life, but for playing sports he should fix it.

I would personally like to see the displacement for 4 strokes adjusted to make the classes a little more even. Say, 200 CC for 125 class and 350 CC for 250 class. The advantage now, especially in the 125 class is ridiculous. It's just coincidence that most of the top riders in the 125 class have ridden 2 strokes. Although with Stewart it wouldn't matter what he rides. CC for CC, there is still no comparison, 2 strokes rule.

Well you finally caught me and my big fake Email scam. Egg on my face. Anyway thanks for paying up but man you got some tight pockets.

I don't see how RC could not have know he blew out his knee. When I did my knee it hurt like hell (I didn't cry) right after it happend. I didn't fall either, I'm alot like RC only taller and better looking.

Posted by: nephron---------------------

...the claims people make on this topic are highly correlated with what they freakin' ride . Bodner's famous 'PITS' study: r=1.0 p<.05. :silly:

So yes, absolutely---I think the KX500 is the best SX bike ever. Consider all 5'4" and 130# of Wardy winning at least one 500 SX title on the desert panzershreck. :scream:

I think there are a lot of ACL deficient people out there (my stepdad is one of 'em), but they aren't pro motocrossers

He don't play softball no more either

XRP, you're right about that.
It's an even bigger problem for women for some reason.
