Damn Yankees do Paragon, again. May 1st & 2nd

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

Well it looks like we've settled on May 1st and 2nd for the annual DYDR's spring ride at Paragon. Lats year we had nearly 30 riders and I hope we'll have more this year. My shoulder and hand have healed up from last springs ride so I'm ready to go.

It looks like we'll even have a visitor from California this year

I will check on getting a discount at the camp ground again this year. Trigger did a good job last year and got a $10 rate for the night.

Now I have to get working on all the winter maintenance on my bike so it will be ready in time.

More info will follow as it becomes available. I can't be on DRN as much as I used to due to the "man" cracking down and limiting my access from work but I'll be here often enough.

I hope everyone had a happy Holiday.

Posted by: Papakeith---------------------

I'm in for this ride
Lets get a roll call started

Posted by: LoriKTM---------------------

Dave and I are IN! :thumb:

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

I think I can make it......maybe even both days this time :thumb:

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

I'll be there with me and may drag Shawn along if he doesnt have Reserves that weekend.

Posted by: Dapper---------------------

As far as I know now I'll be there. :thumb:

Posted by: dirtybkr---------------------

I'm in .

Posted by: Draybob---------------------

I should be there with my 2 boys. Sunday only though. I have to work on Saturday.

Posted by: rv6junkie---------------------

I'm in with my buds, and if we bring our kids that makes 9 of us.

Posted by: knobbiethrower---------------------

Looks good for me right now, probably will drag Rohnman with me also.

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

:thumb: :thumb: Lookin' good!!

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

Well as always, if PK goes I go...

See you there!

Posted by: FLYIN_KAW---------------------

ok I know I always say I am going to make the ride.
So don't let me back out of this one ok guys. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe I can drag Scott along Papa Keith.
Maybe even Hucker will have a bike again????????????????????????
Anyway I've been wayyyyyy busy this last year, so I haven't been on the forums at all.
But I haven't forgotten you guys.
I might even surprise you all with a showing at Dirt Week.
I better not push it. One thing at a time.
Make sure I go!!!!!!!!!!
later
kaw out

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

OMG He lives! It'd be so cool to see you at Paragon...we won't let you live it down if you don't make it!

Posted by: FLYIN_KAW---------------------

ok just keep bugging me, so I don't forget, I am counting on you guys

Posted by: Papakeith---------------------

No problem, I'll keep bugging you. It's been too long since we've sat around a campfire and looked at those vapor trails that jets make.

Say hello to Hucker for us. How is Scott doing? He was all puffed up the last time we saw him(musta been an alergic reaction to something) Hopefully the swelling has gone down some!

Posted by: peegreen---------------------

I see that there are a lot of people form NY coming down to Paragon. Is there a shortage of riding areas in NY or is Paragon just the best place you guys can find that's close?

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

riding areas in both NY and NJ are scarce.  But this is also the best place that is centrally located for everyone.

Posted by: fuzzy---------------------

Where is it??????

Posted by: rv6junkie---------------------

Off I-81 in Hazelton, PA between routes I-80 & I-78

Check out www.paragonap.com for more info.

Posted by: peegreen---------------------

I'm surprised that there aren't that many places in NY. I used to go to a camp in Speculator NY when I was a kid and there is so much open land up there. I would think that there would be a place to ride. I'm going to try W. VA this summer to see what it's like down there. BTW, there is a small bike shop in the town of Tamaqua PA called Thorn's Cycles on Rt.309 South if you ever have any mechanical problems while at Paragon. It's only a few miles South and you can't miss it when coming into town.

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

There isn't a lot of legal wide open trails in NY anymore. There never really was but no one ever bothered you years ago. If your bike is registered that is some land to ride on but I prefer MX and trails so I just have an MX bike that can't be registered. There are lots of MX tracks and some private land that bikers own but there is nothing like what's at Paragon

Posted by: WoodsRider---------------------

Sorry I've been absent from this discussion. Lot's of things happening in the Woods' household up to and including expansion. I'll pencil the dates in, but they remain iffy at best. I like the singletrack at Paragon. Hopefully the motorized couches haven't ruined them yet.

There is no legal public land for motorized recreation in NY. Most riding is done on private land or outlaw trails. Several clubs in the state either own, lease or have access to private land. There is also a company called Trailpass that is opening private motorized recreation sited throughout the state. There is a state-wide ATV registration program and there are ways to street register an off-road motorcycle, but RM_guy is either too lazy or too cheap.

I beg your pardon, I'm both lazy and cheap

Posted by: butch_ltgtr---------------------

Can you guys answer some questions for me?

I just got my wife and son bikes and they are currently in the "riding around in the yard" phase of learning. I plan to get them on some trails as soon as the weather breaks.

My question is, would this "event" be a good place for all of us to come ride with you guys? We love to camp, so this sounds right up our alley! Dirt bikes and camping, you can't get much better than that!

Will there be any other women/families in attendance? I know my wife would love to have some support on that front...

Thanks,
-Butch

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Butch,

This should be a go/od ride for your family, there will be other wives and kids there to ride with.  There will also be groups that they can ride with if you wanted to get out on something a little more challanging for a while, and they can stay on the easier stuff.

Posted by: dirtybkr---------------------

Come on up Butch , Paragon has something for everyone .

Posted by: knobbiethrower---------------------

Hope you and your bike like rocks, because they have a few!

Posted by: FLYIN_KAW---------------------

Hey knobbiethrower, I see new colours on your roster.
Hope to see you again at Paragon

Posted by: knobbiethrower---------------------

Definetly looking forward to riding and hanging out with the "wild" canadians again. I'll keep an eye out for the ****hawks ! FLYIN_Kaw and the Huckster are good company on and off the trail!

Posted by: Dapper---------------------

What's the deal? I know it's early but the ride on Saturday would start at what time? I have a 4 hour drive and need to know what time to start. Not that I need to know right now but, food for thought. Ah heck maybe I'll just drive down on Friday and stay in a nice Motel

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

MOTEL???????????? Silly, Silly Dapper...you're supposed to camp when you go to Paragon!

Anyway...I believe last year we started somewhere around 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday morning, but most of us arrived Friday afternoon/early evening.

Posted by: rv6junkie---------------------

10 AM is the usual time to be ready to ride from the Paragon parking lot. I agree with Sammy, camp.

Posted by: FLYIN_KAW---------------------

Camp Camp Camp Camp, Camp Camp Camp Camp.
Oh ya Food Food Food Food.
and don't forget Beer Beer Beer Beer
Hey Sqeaky seeing you've done some riding now, maybe you can show me a few moves.

Posted by: marcv125---------------------

I should hopefully be able to go...Lets here the final details on where to stay overnight.

Posted by: gxdragon---------------------

Alright here we go again. You guys always pick the weekend of a good enduro to get together . Maybe I can come up on Saturday to meet everybody and get out for an easy family ride. Well I'll know better when it gets closer to the time to go.

If you're lucky you'll get a replay of my "attempting the expert trail" moves from last year...

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Only moves i saw you doing involved a kicking motion!

OK Heres the latest on the MX tracks at Paragon....They will not be there by May, but the tracks should be open before summer. It looks like DirtWurx will be building the tracks for them, so once started, they will be completed within a few weeks. Plans are for a natural terrain MX track, an expert level track, an intermediate track, an ATV track, and supercross style track.

What about the begginer/family friendly trails? We talked about it one of the times I was there. Any time estimates on those? I liked to be able to take my wife and daughter on a real easy loop.

I had lunch with Reid yesterday, and we were talking about what was going on, but he didn't mention the beginner track and I forgot to ask. I'm sure that will be in the works too, since the beginner track was already 3/4 complete last time I saw it. And if not, you can always send them out for a nice easy loop on the expert track

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Dan, think he typed "Easy Trails" not track.

Posted by: DaveRS575---------------------

It's a long way away.... But I'm already looking forward to it!!!

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

oops...you were right Treejumper, he did say trails.....ohhh well, that I can't answer, I don't know how much more is going to be done with the actual trails in the near future...we will have to wait a few months until things get settled, and the new season starts, then I will know more about what to expect in the line of new trails...

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

Man I'm getting excited to ride and it's only 10 degrees out side

We start riding from the lower end of the Paragon parking lot at 10:00 AM on both Saturday and Sunday. If you get there early and want to start riding just be back in the lot by 10. Last year we had more people on Saturday than Sunday so if you can only make it one day there will be plenty of people to ride with.

I can't wait to ride with everyone again!!!

Posted by: Dirtman500---------------------

Sounds like a nice ride! I'm in! I bet Captin Kevin Man will want to ride this one.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

I just checked the extended weather forcast for the weekend.....looks like the weather will be great. But just to make sure, lets all start praying to the weather gods now....

Posted by: NRB---------------------

After checking our spring schedule I will definitely be there in May, also today I went down to the motorcycle shop and put down a deposit on an 2004, WR-250F. So I will have a new ride to break in. I’m hoping this bike will handle a little better than the 426 did in that tight Paragon single track.

Nathan

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Nathan,
That is awfully nice of you to buy a new 250F so we can all take it for a test ride And I hope you don't plan on coming alone....will the wife be with you?

Posted by: NRB---------------------

She says she wants to come, I also have a couple of other guys that live near me that I took up to Paragon last year that had a blast (even through one of them hit a tree harder than DaveRS does).

Nathan

Posted by: Y2Z---------------------

can anyone give me some information about this ride? it would be awsome to have a nice ride to kick off the season.

Posted by: rv6junkie---------------------

Like the title of the post says, the DTDR chapter of DRN will host its Spring ride on May 1st and 2nd at Paragon (www.paragonap.com).

Paragon has a trail system that something for everyone. It is THOUSDANDS of acres. We will also be camping Saturday night.

You won't be disappointed if you make it.....lots of great people, and riding for everyone. Check the link for my pictures below to see some shots from past DRN rides at Paragon.

I camp because I'm cheep. Plus I can get falling-down-druck and err...just fall down.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Last time I camped at Paragon it wound up being a cold rainy night....and I said never again......now I go the motel route
Just call me a nancy, but at least i will be a warm dry nancy

What are you gonna do with that 426? Are you considering selling it?

I am, but I think they may still be a bit out of reach for me $$ wise though..

If I do, you I'd guarantee you'll get some good footage if you take me into the singletrack with it! LOL

This will most likely be the look on my face as I fly through the air toward the largest rock or tree in my vicinity while you take photos!

LOL Seriously though, I might be a little more stable on a 4 stroke with a bit more weight under me me bing 220Lbs. I'd certainly like to try one out and see how it feels. I'm not 100% certain the KDX is exactly right for me, but plan on running it alot more this season. Along with the quad...

Posted by: NRB---------------------

Sorry Dave but I already got rid of it. If you had said something last year I would have let you ride it. But you can still try my new bike (no starting drill on this one).

No problem Nathan, like I said, it's probably still a bit out of range for me.

I'd love to try the WR250, but at 39.5" seat height, it's almost 10" higher than my inseam! I don't know if my feet will even touch the ground! LOL

That certainly carries the potential for some interesting footage!

Nancy - Better ask your doctor to up the dosage of your meds or you'll crack long before May. BTW, have you told your wife that you're going riding that weekend yet?

Things are still iffy on my front. Mrs. Woods has a class on Saturday the 1st so I'll be home watching the kids. So I won't be rolling in until Saturday night. Just have a few adult beverages on ice for me.

Hey guys,
I have been off the forum for a bit. Trying not to drive my self crazy waiting for the warmer weather.
I will be heading out there for this event. I think Kevin and Eugeen will come along also. I think we will have to get Bill to come along also and try to get him to NOT sink the bike this time.
Steven

Posted by: Dapper---------------------

If Nat can make all the way from CA. you guys better

Posted by: FLYIN_KAW---------------------

I'm in, and Scott might be comming too.

Posted by: Dapper---------------------

Well, being the wonderful husband I am I promised my wife that when Alan Jackson comes to town I'll take her to the show. Ordered the tickets today and after I printed them out. It's freakin May 1st. So to keep my status as the worlds greatest hubby I most regretably must bow out of the ride I was looking very much forward to. :whiner: What a bonehead I'll not be making anymore promises.

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Hey that only takes up the 1st. You still have the 2nd to ride.

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

Dammit Dap

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

I don't know about you guys that think your wives come before riding...you don't hear me saying how May 2nd is my wifes birthday so I can't make it, or May 1st is our anniversary so I have to be with the wife, so why do you guys have to use these excuses.......
Ohhhh Wait a minute

I'm not married so I guess I will be there both days....I hope the snow and ice melts some before May

Posted by: rv6junkie---------------------

Dap, no reason why you can't ride on Sunday...in fact, there is no way she'll argue with you!

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

Dapper, ya just gotta come man. Maybe we should write you a note...yeah, that will work, a note. I'll start drafting it. If it comes out good I may use it myself

Posted by: Dapper---------------------

I was thinking about Sunday but, get home about midnight, be on the road by 6 to meet you guys at 10. Not a good idea. As much as I want to go, just doesn't sound like it's the smart thing to do this time. But hey you never know what can happen between now and then.

Dapper,
Did you actually promise that you would take her, or did you say "Next time Alan Jackson comes to town, I'll get you tickets"
If it was the latter, then just give her 2 tickets for her and a friend

Sometime you have to give up on some rides to make the wife happy. That just makes going to DW a little easier.

Posted by: NRB---------------------

I don’t know why you guys are giving Dapper such a hard time, my wife after insisting that I get a new bike (the 426 was three years old you know) made me bring the bike into the living room so I could do the mods that WR’s require (it was cold out in the garage). Now she tells me in April when she gets back from a trip on a Saturday she doesn’t what me to pick her up because if the weather is nice it would mess up my riding that weekend.

Nathan

Posted by: rv6junkie---------------------

Nathan, that's awesome that you can type while you're dreaming.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

ohh and Nathan don't forget to change your profile since you sold the 426

I dunno Nathan... She was awfully supportive of your riding habit last year too.. I'd be very suspicious if my woman was that supportive of me being out of the house on weekends! LOL

"No honey...really I want you to go away for the ENTIRE weekend.. no, no.. not just Friday and Saturday.. I think you should stay until Sunday night.. I'll be with my "sick friend" all weekend, so you go have fun.. No.. my cell phone won't work in the hospital, but you go have fun and I'll see you Sunday night ok? BYE!! GO ALREADY!

Scooter said he would dress up like Alan Jackson. So bring the wife and get her drunk so she wont know the difference.

Did Too

Is it May yet?

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

Well, I'm finanlly starting to buys parts to work on my bike. It should be done by the time the snow melts...if that will ever happen

I ordered a new Thor SVR3 helmet and am anxious to crash...er...try it out

No need to wait til spring to try it out. Put it on your head a badmouth to the wife. Besure to give us a report as to how it held up. :thumb:

Wish i could afford new parts for my bike. :whiner:

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Put 2 new tires on the bike today, changed the oil, and finished my winter maintainance. bought new riding gear, and now I'm just waiting for may to get here

Posted by: DANIEL JOSEPH---------------------

I won't be going this year. I made some nasty comments about Woodsriders purple panties from last year in another post so he came over and busted my leg in a couple of places just to make sure I wouldn't be there to harass him again.

Seriously? If so, i'm sorry to hear that! I've been there and wouldnt wish that on anyone. Heal up and you never know, May is still along ways away.

As for waiting to ride til May! I'm just waiting for the ground to show up and i'll be out riding.

Posted by: DANIEL JOSEPH---------------------

Well the part about me breaking my ankle is, the part about Woodys is a made up. Anyone who wears purple shorts couldn't hurt a fly. They tend to shy away from confrontation.

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Well hope you feel better! Took me 10 weeks before i was the bike again with my broken ankle. 6 weeks before i was on the quad.

Posted by: DANIEL JOSEPH---------------------

They screwed everything back together and claim it'll speed up the healing process. The only good thing about this is a couple of freinds (The one I was at paragon with last year) decided we should head down to bike week seeing as I out of work for a while.

Posted by: rv6junkie---------------------

When I broke my ankle, I was back on the bike (riding like a real puss) the day I got the cast off. I broke it at Paragon and my first ride was back at Paragon...six weeks later. Not gonna let that place get the best of me!

Posted by: Papakeith---------------------

Damn, sorry to hear about your ankle Dan. I guess that this is an accurate representation now?dan's position

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

Dan, Sorry to hear about the leg but let's be honest about how you broke it. What I heard was you were rushing to the airport with your life partner to tie the knot in SF while you had the chance when you slipped on some kind of mystry fuild which resulted in you falling.

Not true, Bill was busy that weekend and he couldn't make it

Are we ready to ride yet.....I will be checking conditions tomorrow for a day of riding woohoo

well...somebody had to bump this thread up

Must be nice Dan! I still have a foot or so of snow on my trails. We may breakout the quads tomorrow to help clear the trails. Have fun and watch the ice patches.

I been riding! Of course, it's been a bit muddy the last couple weeks down by me, but fun all the same! I'm ready to ride! How many more days now???

Posted by: efergason---------------------

Will do Eric! I'll be there from friday afternoon to sunday evening.

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

May is still kinda far off :whiner:

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

but at least it is closer than September

Posted by: JasonJ---------------------

I think Ill be ready to test the water by May 1 so count me in for now. I have some work to do on the bike, new rear tire, grease bearings, and all that stuff. I may get an auto decomp cam for it but hopfully I will have full military kicking power by mid April. I am feeling good on the bike trainer and the street bike and the Doc is very happy with the progress. Now if only I could get a helicopter ride TO AND FROM Pargon with my bike!!!!! Oh yeah, I need new pants too since they cut them off .
Maybe my girlfriend can make it up for a day too depending on the weather, I want her to meet some of you too and she may want to keep an eye on me so I dont go to nuts on my first ride back . Maybe Ill camp with you all too just for fun

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

IS IT MAY YET?????????

Just show up at about 9:00 AM, pay the fee ($25 with a group) and be ready to ride at 10:00AM.

Cut it short...not likely. But your offer does have potential for a future DYDR ride.

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

I want to get a head count for who's coming on what days and who is going to be camping either Friday or Saturday. If we have 25 or more riders we get a discount at Paragon and I'm going to work with the camp ground to get a discount for the campers.

Send me an email at RM_guy@dirtrider.net and I'll keep a list. It's easier to get an email instead of trying to keep track of posts to this thread. I also want to update my DYDR distribution list. A lot of you aren't on it and some of the email addys are bad. If you get a response from me it won't be my DRN email but I'll keep the subject line the same.

Just let me know:

How many in your group?
What days will you be riding?
If you are camping, what nights?

Thanks,
Dave

New management at Paragon, I just checked out their website and Kyle and Stephanie Knosp are the new owners at Paragon. But if I remember right I they were there last year. They did mention a couple of changes that are going to happen, you have to fill out the waiver every time you visit, but you can download that and have it filled out before you get there. The other change is that one person in each group must take a guide training course that takes a half to one hour to complete. I also noticed that all of Scooters pictures were not on the web site anymore.

Nathan

Posted by: rv6junkie---------------------

The operators are now the owners of the land.

Scooters pictures are still on the site...you have to go to the "motorbike" section to see them. They still have a few of my son Connor.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

sorry for not replying sooner about the ownership changes...I had to wait until it was finalized before saying anything. Kyle has been general manager of Paragon since they opened and his wife Steph has been manager so many of you already know them.

This will give the precious owners more time to concentrate on the motocross end of the park which they will be opening soon. That should be opened by mid spring with professional tracks built by dirtworks.....but I will post more on that at a later date

I will also let everyone know what changes have been made before the May ride, and if we need to do anything differently. I also suggest printing a copy of the trail map from here .....trail map..... since it is a color map instead of the black and white maps at the park...and there are new trails that have been added since last year.(click at the top of the page for a printable map) Treejumper and I had fun on some of these new trails back in January. Paragons website is also going through some changes, and is not complet, but yes, som eof my pictures are still there but others are gone temporarily. click here for Paragons web site

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

Dan that map looks like the old one. I guess I'll wait to see where the new trails are.

I'll bring some printed color maps if anyone needs one.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

The map does have some added trails. Also if anyone has pictures from Paragon, they lost all their pictures when they redid the site.....I will of course give them my pictures from Paragon, but if anyone has pictures they want to share, and possibly have on Paragons web site, you can sned them to stephanie@paragonap.com

Posted by: knobbiethrower---------------------

Is it May YET!!!!! Got some more freaking snow last night...errrr

Posted by: JasonJ---------------------

Map? What map? you mean there is a map of the place?
Ill send Steph a link to my site, it has plenty of Paragon pics.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

ok heres the scoop on the training course at Paragon.....
At least one person from each group has to go through a 20 minute course which basically covers the trail markers and rules and regulations of the park. once you go through the course, they give you a card and you don't need to go through it again on future visits. I know most of us know the trail markers and the rules, but it is something they need to do. You don't need to be there at any special time, they will go through everything as needed, so maybe we can get as many people as possible to be there by 9:30 on Saturday, so they can do this before 10:00 when everone is ready to go out on the trails.

The trail conditions are great right now, so if anyonme wants to get a ride in before May, now is the time to go

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Sounds good. I like the idea of all of us (atleast the regulars that hit Paragon more than once a year) to take the course first thing saturday. Makes it easier later in the year incase a certified rider doesnt make one of the rides.

I have some pics too if they need them. Just dont post my puddle picture.

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

Woohoo! Is it time yet? Only 34 days!!!!

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Are you just abit excited Squeaks?

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

Nah...not in the least bit.

Now what would make you think that?

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Maybe all the banana dancing your doing in your post. Either your excited or got in to PK home brew again.

If you want to send your pics for paragons web site, you can send the pics or a link to them to Stephanie at stephanie@paragonap.com

hope to see everyone in May...and I should have an update on teh mx tracks very soon...but they won't be open yet for teh may ride

Hey guys, eugeneorange here.....Doesn't ring a bell?.....The Crazy Czech. (I'm sure you remember that one)
It's been a while, lucky I remembered my DRN password. Hope I can still remember how to ride that orange thing in my garage. Been quite busy - I moved from NY (Long Island) to NJ (Lawrence). Lot's of adjustments. Especially my commute to Manhattan , it's a hike.
I see you started planning the May ride way back in December, and I'd love to join. I'll read the posts to see what's going on, who's going and what has changed at Paragon. I can't wait; my shoulder better be ready by then. I separated it about 5 weeks ago during my only ride since last fall, and it's taking
f o r e v e r to heal. stupid!
Anyway, hope to see many of you guys there.

eugeneorange

SCOOTER, if you read this (and I'm sure you will), do you know what's the best way to Paragon from my area? I'm between Princeton and Trenton (by 95/295). Seems like getting to Paragon from L.I. was much more direct - 80 to 81 and that's it. Now it looks like I'll have to take some local roads, unless I want to stick to the highways and make some huge detours. Let me know if you have an idea.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Eugene,

Its good to hear you'll be there to show us where all the rocks are

I will get you some directions from your area that should be pretty simple I will have them in a couple days.

Hey Eugene.. Good to see you here again! Hope that shoulder heals up quick!

My experience from south Jersey has been to drive up Rt. 31 to Rt. 78 West to Rt 81 North.

There are a variety of backroads that you could take too. If you really want to go via 80 I'd take 206 North from Princeton all the way up to 80, but I think you'd be better off going 78, IMO.

Hope this helps! Looking forward to seeing you again. (I'm Dave, with the perpetually falling over KDX200 that you tried to take into the rock garden last ride) You got me about 100m into it before I turned around.. lol :thumb: See You up there!

Posted by: rv6junkie---------------------

Eugene,

I live 6 miles from 78, but I still go up 31N to 46W to I-80W. I think that would be your best bet from where you live.

Posted by: knobbiethrower---------------------

Hope the shoulder gets better soon you crazy ..........

Posted by: kdxriders---------------------

me and my dad Rich will be up there on our kdx's we love paragon!!!

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Cool! Welcome to the club.

Is it time to ride yet??

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Its always time to ride Just say when and I'll be tehere

See everybody in 26 days

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

I almost called you to ride 2 weekends ago as i was visiting some friends from a saltwater reef club in Lancaster. I was going to stay over night and ride on the sunday but i wound up having to work that sunday.

Started cutting some ST tonight. Got about 1/2 mile cut. I'm hoping for a nice weekend so i can get more cut as i have a 3 day weekend coming up.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Nathan (NRB) and I were there that Saturday Chucke, I had plans that Sunday so couldn't have made it anyway.

Most of my riding this year will probably on Saturdays instead of Sundays, so that might be easier if you want to join me. Same goes for anyone else who is looking for somebody to ride with at Paragon.....I am there almost every weekend, just let me know and I will meet you there.

Posted by: JasonJ---------------------

I dont know if my van will be ready for the ride or if my Girl will let me use her truck . Hey Nate, do you think you will have room for my WR on your rig if it comes to it?

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Saturdays work best for me as 99% of the time i have them off. I have to request sundays off in advanced unless its a holiday. I'd go riding with you guys this weekend but already have plans locally. I'll keep it in mind the weekends when my riding buddy has reserves. I usually go solo or sit at home those weekends.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

no excuses Jason you need to get back on the bike now that your healed even if it means riding the bike from your house to Paragon

Chucke, Just let me know and I will be there.

Posted by: NRB---------------------

Jason,

Sure I've got room for you, it looks like Lisa probably will not be riding this year, but she wants me to get my riding time in. I can't ride this weekend we are flying down to Texas but after that we should get together and go check out Muddy Pipeline Bypass.

Nathan

Posted by: JasonJ---------------------

Oh your not doing the DRNDY ride Nate? Ill figure it out, Hey wait, Dan, you have two bikes right???? . I have to see the Doc next week and I think Im gonna ask him to take a few of these screws out of my knee. As long as that goes well Ill be up.

Posted by: NRB---------------------

Jason,

I meant this weekend of April 10 and 11, I'll be going to the DRN ride in May

Nathan

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Nathan better be there in May, and we need to have a talk with Lisa and get her up there too. Tell her we will be easy on her, and we won't let Eugene lead her into a rock garden

Hey Jason,

My trailer will hold your bike and mine if I don't bring the quad too. Don't you live right down the street from PAP? At any rate, if you need a lift let me know when and I can let you know if I can collect you and the bike.

Dave

Posted by: eugeneorange---------------------

Rockgarden?.... Where?.......in Paragon???....... Naaaaaahh

You can always avoid those - by taking the boulderfields instead

"dirtybkr",
yes, I'm a Slovak (crazy or not, we'll have to set the records straight this year). How's the GasGas cult doing?
Are you coming for both days? If yes, how does a room with a jacuzzi sound to you this time ;-) I'll bring the massage oils you like.

- Dan, I'm waitng for those directions you promised. Or are the directions the other guys posted good enough?

Later.
eugeneorange

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

OK now that its getting closer, lets get an idea of who will be there on which day for those who can't make the whole weekend. I plan on being there both days.

Dave, only when Im staying at Lehigh Valley Hospital , other than than, I work 3 minutes from where Nate dose so its easier for me to Drop the blue bomber with him, Mucho thanks though.

Ill do Sat and Sunday I think. Not sure if Im staying at 8Bs or camping with you guys yet. I think it depends on if my bud will be up at the cabin or not and if I have the Van or not. Big 30 April 28th so Im getting to old to sleep in the tent after being spoiled by the air mattres in the back of the van, LOL

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

I'll be camping friday and saturday. If its raining friday then i will be out saturday morning to ride saturday and sunday.

Posted by: dirtybkr---------------------

Doing good Eugene , If I go at all this time, it would be just Sat. I have a commitment with my Bride on Sunday .
Check out the post in the Damn Yankee forum for info on another ride in May .

P.S. forget about those scented oils , last time I got a rash .

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

I'll be there both days! As will PK (Since he hasn't answered, I'll answer for him!) and 2 more (I believe)...we'll be camping Friday and Saturday night

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been on lately. I had a case of pneumonia last week and was so freaking sick I didn't even think about riding...and that's just not normal for me I don't ever want to be that sick again. I've basiclly been out of action for 3 weeks and now I'm so far behind all the crap I have to do that I may only be making it on Sunday. I had planned on working on my bike (new bearings, chain, etc) the last several weeks and couldn't do anything. Also my son is moving out of the house into an apartment that weekend and he'll need help on Saturday.

Anyway, looks like we've got a good crowd coming this year and I'll do what I can to make it both days. Don't expect me to be as extraordinarily fast as I usually am since I won't have a chance to do any riding be for May.

I've only gotten 3 emails from those who plan on coming so it will be kinda of difficult trying to get any discounts on camping. I'll see what I can do anyway.

Posted by: knobbiethrower---------------------

Dave are you talking fast as in with your wit or your riding ability? I'll be camping at Red Ridge from friday until Sun.Still planning on riding both days. Should be bringing Rohnman and another fast guy like yourself Dave.

Squeaky, it's nice knowing someone else will be bringing some of grampa Morgans' mood juice! looking forward to the Spodefest!

Posted by: DaveRS575---------------------

I will most likely be coming in Friday night leaving/checking out Sunday late morning. 50/50 chance that I will be able to do the sunday morning ride as well.

I plan on staying at the Forest Hill Inn, if anyone wants to split a room, thats cool. I do snore though! You've been warned.

See you all there!

Hey Dave,
eugeneorange here, if your plans haven't changed, I'm in on the room at the Forest Hill Inn, one night, Sat. to Sun. Did you make a reservation yet? If not, try to get a room facing the parking lot (maybe they all do), you know - dirt bike silhouetted sunset/sunrise.
-and don't believe any rumors you hear, especially from "dirtybkr".

Dan, any luck with the dirrections?

Sounds like a plan. I have not yet made a reservation so no problem. All rooms face the parking lot to my knowedge. I like to try and get a 1st floor room when possible in case i need to sneak the bike into the room for any last minute repairs

As for the rumors... no worries.. I bring my own special oils!

Posted by: gxdragon---------------------

I won't be able to make this one I plan on racing Sunday May 2. I wanted to try to make it Saturday but it will just be too much.

I have at least one other guy that is interested in going the following weekend preferably on May 8. Will anybody else be there that Saturday? Scooter will you be around? I'm trying to get a couple people up there, if there's any interest I'll start another thread for that day.

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

OK, here’s the deal with camping. Red Ridge Lake Campground will charge us $10 per person per night. I told him we'd have 10 to 15 people but more or less shouldn't be a problem. I reserved the same area that we had last year up behind the barn. When you check in tell them you are with DRN and they’ll show you where to go. Their web site is http://www.redridgelake.com/ for direction, etc.

As I had posted earlier, I will probably not be camping over night Saturday so have fun and watch out for those lingering vapor trails

Posted by: rv6junkie---------------------

I'm still trying to figure out if I'm camping Friday night or Saturday night. At this point I will have Jr. with me so it looks like a Saturday night camp-out.

Posted by: JasonJ---------------------

The Doc says the leg is a go. He is even gona prescribe a set of Astrisic braces for me Thanks dude! I think Ill drive up Sat, ride, camp with you guys, and ride Sunday too.

Hey Jason, glad to hear your coming!

Knobbie, It's not May yet

Right, cause if it WAS, you'd be late!

Dave and I will be there both days, with trials bikes and hopefully a surprise new steed in the back...

Thinking about driving down Friday and getting a room, so we can be at the trailhead bright and early Saturday morning. If the weather is decent, we'll camp Sat. night.

Is Natalie stiill planning on flying out?!

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Nope, Nat had to cancel after her Reno crash.

Posted by: LoriKTM---------------------

Ah, shoot! I haven't been online much, so I didn't hear about the Reno incident... :whiner:

Posted by: MrMXer327---------------------

I'm going to have to see if I can do Paragon. I should be able to talk PStout into going as well if it works out. We both just went out and picked up a pair of 450f's. Jared finishes up wrestling season this weekend in Ohio, so we should have next weekend open. Santa brought him a 65 this year and he is chompin at the bit to get some riding time on it. Are there any others bringing kids?

Posted by: rv6junkie---------------------

Steve, Connor has a Soccar game, so I don't think he'll make it. I'm going...camping too!

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Holy crap! Steve's going to ride in the woods? You must be getting old. Hope you can make it. I dont know if Flying Scot is bringing his kids again but there were several last year.

Posted by: MrMXer327---------------------

You mean I have to ride in the woods??? No track??? Hope there are no mudd pit crossings like Cooperland - I'm still having flashbacks from that one

Posted by: Papakeith---------------------

Man! the time is drawing near!
Is everyone ready?

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

I talked to Stephanie today at Paragon about how we usually all have to sign up at the same time to get the discount. It's a pain because everyone gets there at different times. Since we have been having such a good turn out and we've been having at least 25 riders, I talked to her about waiving the group sign up.

All you have to do now when you register is to tell them that you are with DirtRider.net and you will get a $5 discount ($20 for one day of riding and $35 for both Saturday and Sunday)

I will get with them at the end of the day to see how many actually showed up.

The only thing she asked is to wait until after 9 AM to register. Their monthly ride is the same weekend and they sign up between 8 and 9 and she doesn't want us getting confused with them.

Posted by: Flying Scot---------------------

Alas this year is out for me. My son has his first communion on Saturday and the obligitory party afterwards. Sunday it's try outs for Fall travel Soccer again, I flipped out on the guys running the league about the timing of this ( there was no point yelling at the Catholic church they haven't listened in 2000 years ).No matter what I want to do I can't get a break.
T.J. my bud Phil said he might get his bud from last year and go up and ride my bike if you bring it, as it's tame and his doctor told him no more riding since his surgery on his MCL, PCL and ACL a month ago. ( I don't think he quite gets the meaning of no riding ). I'll let you know for sure before then as he will take it and my gear back for me. Thanks, for the long term storage. Hopefully you didn't sell too much of it :thumb:
So I will miss out even though this time but it sounds like it might be a lot more fun and we are all dying to get up there.
Also T.J. that Airfox title will go bye bye before Sunday night.

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Sorry FS! Was hoping to ride with you again. Hopefully Phil can make it up as i'd be nice to pass your bike on. Not that i mind having it but have been worried about something happening to it that is out of my control. Atleast i kept the battery charged by doing afew laps around the farm on it. :thumb: I didnt realize how much stuff i had of yours til i pulled it all out of the closet and put it in a corner for next weekend. Please let me know by thursday if i need to bring it or not. Just PM me or email me at totlxtc@alltel.net. (new email as of a month or so ago)

PS: Beat the Airfox and i'll just have to play it again. Only game i can do half decent on. Your kids arent allowed to play for you!

Me too!

Posted by: LoriKTM---------------------

Me Three!
And it will be my first ride of the season!

Jason, you're gonna be missed. I was hoping to meet your better half, too and see how her riding is progressing!

Posted by: JasonJ---------------------

Thanks Lori, I was actually hoping to check out some trials riding with you guys this year, Im kinda thinking it would be cool to get into. Kerry was not going this weekend anyway, well so she said (knowing we had other plans I take it). Her riding did improve last year but I still dont feel she is up to Paragon. She still is intimidated by group riding too. Oh well, Im just happy that she WANTS to ride and we can go out on some trail rides and see some of the cool stuff togeter and make some muddy memories. Hope to maybe see you and Dave sometime this year yet.

I'm letting everyone know now that I plan on taking the Nancy award home with me. It's a given. I'm a woos and I accept full responsibility but none of the blame, of course. If I accepted the blame then I wouldn't be a true Nancy If anyone wants to fight me for it then I'll give it to them (it's the Nancy thing)

Dave,
change in plans. Steven (XR400, Gixer...I think) is moving on Sunday of that weekend, NY to Virginia. He helped me with my move few months ago so it's my turn now. He was looking forward to this weekend, but the timing didn't work out.
So I'll be riding Saturday only. I won't be doing my usual "stuff" this ride, my shoulder still doesn't feel completely healed, plus I haven't ridden in I don't know how long. I hope I didn't screw up your plans. I'll see you next weekend.

eugeneorange
