ok. ive been saving up and etc. i have about 1200 right now. i just got a whole bunch of new gear. thor gear, its pretty sick. ive never ridden before and im dying to. and i cant change my mind cuz i just got gear. my friends have been trying to get me into the sport for awhile now and have almost succeeded. i am 17, 5 9 and weigh 160. ive been looking at bikes and cant really find what im looking for. i found this one in my price range. here it is:
91 cr125- pro circuit suspension, renthal bars, newer top end, new tires, ceet seat cover, new fenders, skid plate & lots more. he's asking 1350. but im sure i can go to 1100 by giving him cash. i was wondering if it would be a good bike for me. i still have to look at it and stuff and i have a friend who can help me out with everything and make sure its all good. hes been riding since he was 8 so yeah. but i still need more opinions. the style of riding im doing is mostly just desert riding and dunes and stuff. mostly just looking to have a good time with my friends and not worry bout my break breakin down. i might be able to get some more money from my rents but i dunno it might be a longshot. my main question is that is this bike a good bike or should i wait for others? please help me out. thanks tim

Obviously a good starter bike would be a 125 but I would recommend a 250 especially for sand riding. A 91 is fairly old. A buddy of mine picked up a 94 or 95 CR250 for 1400. Completely redone and well kept. Just my two cents. I'm glad to hear that you want to ride.

I agree with kawdude. 250s are much more suited for the terrain. The older yz and cr are both reliable bikes. It may take a bit longer to get used to the power but once you do its a lot more fun on a 250.
