Smoke hole on 04 250F

There is a small hole on the right side of the cr250F engine block....upon a cold morning warmup thismorning I saw smoke comming out of it and it didnt have a nice smell....kinda a dirty burning plastic type of smell. What is this hole for? Is this a exhaust overflow hole? I didnt keep the engine running after I saw this for fear of what that burning smell was.

On the CRF450 that is the drain hole for the splark plug hole. Since the spark plug site down in a recessed hole, it can collect water and it it supposed to drain out of that hole.

I must have gotten some junk down in there that is smoking with the heat of the engine...the bike hasent been washed recently so im just hoping its dirt.
