Im 16 about 6 foot and 145 pounds. Im gonna be doing mostly trailridding maybe mix it in with a couple of track days, but mostly trails. I have never ridden a bike before, but know how to work a clutch. So i was wondering what would be good and i want a bike that will last me a couple of years.

a wr250f or kdx200 sounds good for you, they are mostly trail bikes but can be ridden on tracks with some success...

I don't know if you should take your friends advice to get a CR 125 if you are a beginner and don't even know how to use a clutch.
A KDX 200 would make a nice bike. Its a 2-stroke, so its got that powerband of one, but its also designed to be a trail bike, and allthough there are still people who bring 125s (even bone stock) into trails and do fine, its not going to be easy for a beginner, and if its what your mainly doing, I wouldn't reccomend it. And for the KDX - if you want to bring it to the track, its a 2-stroke, so it will still be tons of fun to ride, and allthough it doesen't have the suspension of an MX bike, it is such an easy to mod bike, that you can easily make it into having MX suspension. Even stock it will jump fine. Might land a little hard, but still jump.

Thats the difference between a KDX and KX besides the cushy suspension. The KDX doesn't have that much of a powerband but still has the quick throttle response of a 2 stroke. A KX125 can be an excellent trail bike w/ just some jetting/gearing and flywhl. weighting. Some people want a power hit and others(esp. beginners) want a smooth power delivery.

Don't forget the XR 250 nothing older than a 00. The Xr250 is cult bike in the woods for budding woods racers! also you have much lower maintenance cost with this bike.

Im am trying to decide between 2 different bikes. A WR250f and a CRF250, and was wondering what bike is better or what one is better in certain places than the other bike.
Posted by: TwoStroker---------------------
The CRF is a MXer that can be ridin in the woods with little or no modifacation and the WRF is a YZF already tuned(ported, suspended, equiped) for the woods.

the wrf has been out for a few years so getting one used would be more cost-effective than buying a brand-spanking new crf

Don't forget the cost of maintenance on the wr's & yzf's. Not everybody can do the work. They’re complex and expensive to maintain. And when they do come apart. They do it in a big way. Unless your really on the top of your game. (Fast guy) you can save your self-a lot of grief buying a newer xr250.

Well im gonna be doing mostly trail ridding. SO the WRF looks more to be a trail bike. Also I need a bike that will last me a couple of years. Also i would like to save as much money as possible.
