I’m Going to Get Mine B/C I’m Right This Time

I took a ½ off from work to drive my wife to Santa Barbara; she wanted to do some legal research in the County law library.

On the way some how she brings up her old '68 Camaro she had when we first met some decades ago (ah: to be young again!) Anywho, she was saying how it had a 220 MPH speedometer! I said no way; it may have been like 140 - no more.

Now, she rarely if ever thinks she’s wrong – after all I’m the hubby, right? meaning I’m the one most often wrong – eh! So I say “what'd I get if I’m right?”, and she says “in no way are you right”; I say “come on – what do I get?”, and she sheepishly said with a reserved smile "$*X!", and she was going to call a mechanic to prove me wrong…

Like I said, I’m going to get mine.

BTW: anyone know of a link to an old muscle cars web site, especially dashboard shots? A gentleman shouldn’t have to wait long...

Will this help?

Go easy on her!!!

If I'm not mistaken, the RS/SS displayed 140.

I'm with you. Never seen any '60s mucle car w/a 200+ speedo. 'Cept maybe a Superbird.

You are gonna get yours! The '68 Camaro in my shop has a 120 MPH speedo in it and my "know it all about Chevy muscle cars" husband says that the only higher reading speedos in the Camaro family were the Firebirds that had a 140 MPH unit. You might check out the Classic Industries website to prove it to your wife. Good luck!

i had a '66 corvette. the speedo in it went to 150.

You da MAN!

She's going to be wearing the money too, right?

Posted by: Gary B.---------------------

never saw a 220mph speedo on anything that didn't have wings! enjoy!

Unbelievable! Talk about a sinking ship: She claims the gages in the pix are non-stock, insisting her's did display up to 220. Granted - her's was not an SS nor even an RS; nonetheless a standard two-barreled 327 for crying out loud. It didn't even come stock with dual exhaust but the prev. owner put them on; I know 'cuz one pipe would burn me when I replaced the oil filter. At least it did not bleed oil when pulling the filter like my pickup.

I told her the burden of proof remains upon her as I provided submissable evidence...collecting tonight.

dang wimmens. They welch on them bets every time

Wow, she threw you a softball low, slow, and over the plate...

BTW, what would she get if she was right?

Nut'in, 'cuz we both know I'm right (again), but don't tell her/rub it in.

I collected 3 more pieces of evidence from the web this morning, and thus far she's got - like I said: nut'in, other than her cunning wit. There's overwhelming evidence in my favor; ziltch in her's. So let's see how she fares.

The last few nights she had to study for tonight's paralegal class test; wanted me to wait for collection, and so I said make "that 2x" now. Then she had the audacity to say I forgot our anniversary in December, but nnnnooooppppe! The truth is I bought her a generous takeout slice of Ski Slope chocolate cake from Tahoe Joe's that very night! Touche; check; gotchacovered.

Like XRP said: wimmin.

Your putting up a good fight and I think your have the trophie in sight, but when it comes down to it she has control over "it" so don't piss her off to bad. You might get what's coming now, but if you make it to big of an issue you might not get "it" for a while.

Maybe it was a Canadian model that displayed in Kilometers per hour?

Only one problem with that - Canada didn't go metric until about 1977.

If I've learned anything in 10 years of marriage it's you can either be right or happy, but not both.

I happily wrong all the time, but satisfied too.

Being wrong is a way of life round here. I bet and lose everytime, damn the wimmens...

My wife only remembers the 1 or 2 times that she won. The 100 times that I was right don't seem to count for one reason or another.
