fiberglass exhaust pipe gaurd???

I cant find a pipe gaurd for my WR250 husqvarna(STOCK PIPE).pitted next to a guy once who said he'd made his own out of fiberglass-wasnt pretty,but did the job.Woudnt it melt???shouldnt there be an air gap(his didnt)Should I get a special fiberglass/resin??? I know dyno-port makes a thick pipe but cost is too much for me,sending pipe off again for repair.destroyed moose universal gaurd 02',banzai brothers gaurd 03'.ANY IDEAS??? THANKS

I would check at Halls Husqvarna in Springfield, IL. They had some carbon fiber guards for the 250 2 strokes that someone was custom making for them.
