Building a reed petal and cage is a fairly simple engineering excercise, BUT building a combination that a) works, and b) improves on the stock setup is truly complex task. Boyesen has spent more time and effort than anyone including the factories testing and researching reeds, and I'd hazzard a guess and say even he doesn't have all the answers.
Just something to think about.
