Windham's Front Fender

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Did anyone notice Kevin Windham's custom front fender? I'm sure it's been like this for some time, but I just noticed it while watching Daytona. Check it out in the two pictures below here: http://supercross.com/feature.php?id=406

It appears the rear of the fender has been chopped off and replaced with a white piece that has slits cut into it. I'm guessing the slits are for additional cooling properties, although I'm not sure why they just did not drill/cut holes into the stock fender. Anyone notice and/or have a better explanation?

David.

The Factory Connection team is sponsored by Cycra plastics. That is a stock Cycra fender. Check out Cycra HERE

People have been doing this for quite some time so the bikes get more air and stay cooler.... but yes, you usually see drilled holes. I would guess they did the slits to prevent Daytona sand or mud or roost from sneaking through the fender too easily.

Cycra makes that part... I guess if you are fast enough, it'll help, lol.

Nah, I'm not <quite> fast enought yet.

I'll order one of those right after I get the vented number plate!

You don't see many of those in the local events.
Thanks for the explanation!

Heck JC whitney has been selling a replacement fender like that for years(well maybe not as trick)! The XT500 i believe came with one.

I had an aftermarket front fender on my old '84 KDX200 (Maier, maybe?) that had vents. Better still, the fender had a little sliding panel so you could close the vents for cold or muddy conditions.

I can just see it ... spinning laps, guy says "time-out! gotta close my fender vent!"

Welcome! Yes, call RJ (Owner) @ 816-456-7223. That is his cell number. Also, www.hadenmx.com lists the weekly races which will include Merwin (drexel) and Kingsville (SX style track 30 mi. east of KC). Rj owns both of these.

I may be heading there as well, but only to set the 426 out with a 4sale sign on her. Still waiting on parts for the new blue piggy before I can ride her. If you see a 426, #441, that will be me. White F150 with Dirtrider.net stickers on windshield and rear window.

Thanks, I ride a CRF450 and drive a black z71, I will hopefully be out at Drexal this Saturday.
