Settle down there butt nugget, I have been saying before RC got hurt that it was CR title to lose. Kbud is not title 250 material, ever. LOL!!
Do you want to bet on this?

Posted by: TwinSpar---------------------

This made a great day even better!!! WAY TO GO LaRocco!!!! :thumb:

Hardest working racer out there and a win after just a week of healing from busted ribs......

Posted by: Thump---------------------

Hey StuperRat, I was just dishing a little back your way... you know, if you give it you have to be able to take it. LOL

I was just jackin with you, baring an injury CR will likely win his first and last 250 title in the US. (just another lil jab at the end) Congrats to him, it will be well deserved.

Posted by: super rat---------------------

HAHA!! I know you know I know I'm busting me after you bust me. It's pretty cool the the rock won, huh? How about the Colorado boys?

Posted by: Weasel---------------------

I've been going to the Indy SX since '93. This past thursday, my wife was involved in a car accident. She avoided some high scool kid that decided to turn left at the last minute while failing to use her turn signal. My wife went around her on the right to avoid rear ending her and hit a patch of black ice and sent our cherokee into a 360 ending up against a tree. The girl who decided to turn left I'm sure seen all this go down. As if failing to use a turn signal wasn't bad enough, she didn't even bother to see if my wife was ok, she continued on about her business.
Anyway, my wife was and still is very sore and brused up from the accident. So I decided to skip this year's Indy SX to help her out with our 10 week old daughter. I called my friend I was to ride down to the race with and told him about the situation. I had made arrangement's with him for my brother to go in my place. While we were talking, I told him "Watch this be the year that LaRocco finally win's" We live in the South Bend area, so Mike LaRocco is our local star in this sport. In the past 11 year's that I've been going to Indy, I've seen The Rock come close to wining in front of his home crowd. To sit at home here and listen to the race on SXGP.com was a very hard thing to do, I was wishing I was there!!! What an awesome race it was, to be there in person would have been amazing. I don't know if any of you listed to it or not, but the place was extremely loud with all those Rock fan's cheering him on. Who know's, mabey if he ride's at Red Bud this year, just mabey he will finally win there too!
Congradulation's Mike, Finally!!!! :thumb:

Posted by: nikki---------------------

I am not a Larocco fan, but to be at Indy tonight for the race sent shivers up my spine, and possibly every person in the RCA Dome. Every single lap it was like the dome was doing the "wave" with cheers and standing ovations when Larocco would go past their section. The last lap everyone was on their feet and the cheers were deafening. Then Larocco and K-Dub did a parade lap and the crowd ate it up. Of course the crowd went nuts several more times after the race when they would talk to Larocco on the podium and hand him his holeshot (!!!) check and everything else. We were at St. Louis last week for his big 200 race celebration too... but this night in Indy was just amazing. And no better place for Larocco to let it shine.

Posted by: TheGrinch---------------------

A suprising podium order. Though I'm backing Chad, I've got to give the Rock credit. Well done.

Posted by: Senior KX Rider---------------------

Great to see LaRocco get the win :thumb:

Posted by: weimedog---------------------

Grabbed this from Cyclenews:

“I think the fans and the media know that I really wanted to compete here in Indy for the first time in my career,” Stewart said. “I was really leaning toward racing tonight, even after Dr. Bodnar’s recommendation. However, I received 100-percent support from my family and teammates and I believe we made the right decision for the right reasons. I hope the decision not to race will leave an example for future riders who get a concussion during a race weekend. If they see that I can see the importance of sitting out one race to protect my entire career, then I think I will have made my point.”

And that folks is the difference.

Posted by: MXFastGuy---------------------

Very nice statement. I wonder if it would have read the same, had he NOT already wrapped-up the title...

Posted by: rickyd---------------------

WAY TOO GO ROCK!! :thumb: :thumb: And Grabbing the Holeshot too!!

What held Reed up @ the start? The lap chart shows he came out about 17th and worked his way to 3rd. Talk about a freakin' stud.

As far as Stewart is concerned..you know you're good when you can casually take a race off and still be ahead by what? 40 plus points? Not sure on that.

Wait a minute. I'm listening to the webcast, heard Bentley talking about his boo hoo waah waah EBV. How many people besides me are sick of hearing this total nonsense about Epstein Barr? First of all, it doesn't exist the way they're pushing it. It lasts at most 1 or 2 months, not 6 like these fruitcakes are pushing it. Secondly, this repetitive EBV thing is not only rarer than hen's teeth, but the MAJORITY of the time it's asymptomatic. The serologies are extremely tenuous to interpret, and many throw caution to the wind when doing so, primarily to satisfy a fatigued patient. Everyone has positive EBV serologies--it's a matter of interpreting them properly (eg, ONE of the presentations of active disease is a positive EA in the setting of a negative EBNA). Furthermore, whoever this is that's telling these kids they have it because they have a high white cell count needs probably to understand that a low white count is characteristic of this disease, lol.

For any wondering, EBV is not the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome. No one knows what is, but it's probably another Human Herpesvirus like HHV8,9....? Sorry for the rant, and if it sounds insulting, but the subject is relatively important.

Doesn't LaRocco do that just about every week? I knew that if he got the holeshot in a race he'd be a contender for 1st place...this proves it! Way to go Rock!

Posted by: SpectraSVT---------------------

And to think I'm gonna have to wait an enitre week to see it on TV...what kind of crap is that! Why a 1 week delay like last year?

Posted by: wyatt---------------------

Put the Rock on the top of my list under hero. I hope stewart was watching how
the men do it. Larocco never stayed in the 125 s so he could win easy and mike
let' s his riding do the talkin no need for a post race "sprinkler". Be a man bubba.

Reed got tangled up and went down in the first turn I believe. He was definately the fastest man on the track after that, pulling up beside Windham on the last lap. :thumb:

Posted by: MrMXer327---------------------

The Rock!
Is he the working class hero in our sport or what? - The guy goes out and gets the job done week after week. It had to be a priceless moment for him as he rode his son around the course. Does this make him the oldest rider to ever win a Supercross?

No, he doesn't.

Catching Windham from 12 seconds back on the 3rd lap...not been done by Mike. LaRocco's still achieved a greatness in longevity that may never be duplicated, he's tough as Northern Territory steak, he's nothing short of a hero--but, fast as Reed, Stewart? Come on, man.

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

How many races in sx has the rock holeshot? anyone know?

Posted by: super rat---------------------

I read somewhere that he said it was his 3rd holeshot in 17 years.

Not sure how you could find out the exact number. But he's good for a holeshot once every 4 or 5 years on average. Been in the premier SX class for about 15 years, so my guess is Mike has had maybe 3 or 4 holeshots.

Watching Mike work through the pack has been one of the great things about SX for a long, long time. The only thing more fun is seeing him get a start and a win!

I didn't watch this race or listen to the webcast, so I don't know the specifics about Reed's situation, but I do know that week after week LaRocco gets a bad start and works his way up through the pack, having his fastest lap times toward the end of the race. He will regularly finish in the top 5, and will make the podium quite often, too. I never said he's as fast as Reed or Stewart (I've watched too many races to be able to actually believe that), but I knew that if he got a good start he WOULD have a chance (whether it's because Reed or Windham got a bad start, crash, whatever...a chance is a chance) to snag first place. He doesn't turn out the fastest lap times, but he hangs in there where other guys end up sucking wind or going over the bars. It proves that he still has what it takes to race in Supercross, not that he's the fastest guy out there. If he was the fastest, we'd see him on the top step of the podium more often.

Posted by: jsned---------------------

fender92883, Larocco did have the fastest lap time this time, they gave him the watch for it. I dont know what lap it was or anything. I was fortunate enough to be there and Reed was flying, just didnt get enough time. Larocco was haulin and I never saw him make a single bobble.

I know they told him he had the fastest lap time and gave him the watch, but according to the AMA website, Reed had the fastest lap.

Posted by: nikki---------------------

Yep - Reed had 6 laps in the 44's in the main... we all looked at each other confused when they gave Larocco the watch. No idea why they did that.... It was pretty obvious for Reed to crash in the start, remount dead last, and catch up to less than 4 seconds behind Larocco, that he had to have the fastest lap of the night. Turns out Reed had the fastest 11 laps of the night (he had 5 laps in a row of 44's in his heat race).

Pretty amazing - In 26 complete laps in the night show, Reed turned 11 in the 44's. And he was in traffic the entire main! Pretty impressive! No other rider was able to put together a 44 second lap all day/night. Kevin was the closest with a 45.070 in his consi and Larocco with a 45.114 in the main.

Posted by: TheGrinch---------------------

I'd say it's safe to say Chad has the 250 AMA SX title already won. By my calculations he can finish 4th in the remaining 4 rounds and still win by 2 points even if KDub wins all of the remaining races.

But as they say, it's not over until the fat lady sings. Fingers crossed Chad doesn't injure himself and miss any rounds.

Posted by: 2smoke---------------------

Grinch!!!....dont go putting the kiss of death on him. Four rounds to go plenty can happen....100 points up for grabs. One crash one injury, thats all it takes. Still he's looking good.

Its good to see LaRocco win one every now and again......just to show em all he still can.

Posted by: nikki---------------------

I don't want to see Chad (or anyone) get hurt... but I wouldn't mind for Chad to tear a radiator hose or a bust footpeg or get a flat tire or a snap a chain or something.

Come on Nikki. Don't you want to see an Aussie win the title?

Sorry 2smoke - I'm sure I haven't jinxed him. Though I reckon their are a few out their sticking needles into their Chad Reed voodoo dolls.....right Nikki

Actually... I'm a big Chad Reed fan.... but a bigger K-Dub fan. If it was RC and Reed going down to the last few races (like last year), I would be hoping Reed could pull it off. I'm a RC fan, too, but like to see someone else win a championship once in a while. So it's nothin personal with Reed... I would just love to see K-Dub get a 250cc championship after all these years of trying and coming up one or two spots short.

Posted by: nephron---------------------

Grinch...isn't Reed from Corona, CA, USA--or something like that?

Posted by: 2smoke---------------------

No way Dr Feelgood.....thats just one of his errr residences....he's from around Newcastle Orrstraylia.....he's an Aussie mate. Thats why no one likes him.

Posted by: nephron---------------------

2smoke--I was jesting him. Of course he's from Australia.

Posted by: 2smoke---------------------

I know that Doctor Feelgood.......you wanting to stir Grinch up an all ....its an emotion that passes through us all from time to time......its all good.

Yeah, I don't know why they have to put down their residential address in the USA. Is it the AMA's way of trying to disguise the fact that Americans are getting their butts kicked by foreigners Just kidding.

Seriously though, those new to the sport could think he's American if they read those details. I don't know why they don't put their country of origin down.

Angry Jim
That's like saying you want Bob Hannah to win, your living in the past man. Come on mate, you've got to move on and embrace the new champions

FYI - Jeff is the General Manager for KTM Sportmotorcycles Australia. I'm not sure if he even competes anymore in his spare time.

I like him, If he steps it up in the Nationals, I'll like him even more..

Posted by: nephron---------------------

I think he'll be a lot better in the Nationals this year.

2smoke & Grinch--what came over me? I should have said I was 'ribbin'' you guys.

And I think you're right. I think most Americans do have that certain minor loathing of meddling foreigners. It's just cool to me that it's Australian this time. In my opinion, (in general) the nicest, most welcoming (after, er..they get to know you ) , reliable people I've met. lol, maybe they were just pulling the wool over another American's eyes. Hope that place isn't still being Americanized. Not kissing your butts, either, so don't go there. I just want to convey the point that I appreciate Reed being here.

Posted by: mxer842---------------------

ok guys here is what happens as paul lindsey has explained it to me...on the AMA registration paper there is a spot for the riders hometown and a spot for residency, where the AMA will send all of the riders prize money, but when we see on TV that andrew short is from Murrieta, CA or Chad Reed is from Corona we are seeing the AMA being idiots and broadcasting the current residency not the hometown.

Posted by: 2smoke---------------------

It was never taken any other way Doc.....(maybe I got to start using dem der emoticon thingamajigs). Really its expected that people should support their own riders. There's nothing wrong with that.....and Ill make a little hay while the sun is shining....cause Im no fool and I know next year its gonn be a whole new ball game.

and yeh we'll just wait and see on Chad's form in the Nationals. He can ride outdoors no problem. But thats if he wants to do it in his head.....if he is half hearted about it like last year he'll be ridding for just placings again. I think though he'll have a better go...but KW outdoors will be a big challenge.

Posted by: 2smoke---------------------

and how stupid of me.....RC will be back too......outdoors will be tough.

All kidding aside, I liked Jeff. And, no, I don't HAVE to embrace new champions. I've never been one to jump on the bandwagon. I did however, choose Chad to win the SX title even before RC got hurt. I have much respect for the man :thumb: . I've also never met an Austraian that I didn't get along with.
