moving up from tt-r 225, what bike?

hey guys I'm trying to figure out which bike to move up to from my ttr-225. I've been riding for about a year and ride trails mostly but I do alot of jumping and need something more powerful. I'm 5'8 and 175lbs. I've been looking at the '04 honda crf250r and the '04 yamaha yz250f. are those okay to ride trails w/ even though they're MX bikes? also I really like the ktm's but dont know which one would be good for trails and jumping. any suggestions you can give me would be great. I'm not really set on any bike, thanks.

They're great bikes for racing, but if your going to ride trails, try the off-road versions. The crf250x and wr250f are the off-road versions and are great for jumping and trail riding. Have you ever ridden a 2-stroke? Coming off heavy and vastly underpowered machinery such as the 225, you should try to experience a good 2-stroke off-road bike first and see if you want to go down that path. I would usually suggest a kdx200, but if you want to do some jumping and possibly mx, a ktm200, 250, or 300 would be a better choice :thumb:

thanks, I figured they might not be the best bikes for trails sense they are staight mx bikes, on the ktm's, are you talking about the exc series?
