Helmet trim, how to hold it on. HELP!

Helmet trim. I am having a continual problem with the trim around the mouthpiece of my helmet coming loose. The last time I scrubbed out all the dirt off of the fiberglass and from the inside of the trim the best I could. Then I used contact cement and let it dry before joining the two together (as directed by glue manufacturer) but it is still pulling apart.

Does anyone here have any better ideas, better glue, better methods of putting helmet trim back on permanently?

ah yes, what a PITA this trim is. I finally settled for Krazy Glue.

Elmers Probond Polyurathane glue in the paint dep at walmart or most HW stores. CA (super glue) can attack foam and rubber and leaves a white fog too.
Gorilla glue is pretty much the same thing as Probond. make the area slightly wet and it will speed up the cure time from 24 hours to 2 hours but the glue will foam and expand so keep it away from the edges and use it very thinly, like with a tooth pick, great stuff though and non toxic.

How can it work if it's not toxic? JK

So the Gorilla glue expands? Have you used it in this area? How has it held up?

Pred, how is your Crazy glue doing?

the krazy glue works, but don't be wantin' to get it back off.

The PU glue will expand if mixed with water, if you dont want it to foam, just apply it with out water, but it will react with humidity in the air a bit. You can watch it and wipe down edges with alcohol as it dries to keep it neat, the Probond remains semi flexible and since it PU it never really breaks down or delaminates, it waterproof too once dry.

Goop...specifically Marine Goop will fasten just about anything to just about anything else. It's like silicone on steroids

Heck, I've been have the same problem, since last Aug, I was shooting a race in 115 deg temps for 3.5 hrs and when I put my helmet on every piece of molding came off, I've been glueing it back on ever since.

Goop, ShoeGoo, any of that ultra-sticky snot like stuff seems to work.
