Roll Call for TrainRobbers Enduro in Arkansas

Leaving Saturday morning with Motohead. Looking forward to riding my favorite riding spot!

Posted by: RAHRAH---------------------

Definitely, This place is the bomb. The terrain will almost remind you of Loretta Lynns minus some dust. It should be a great ride. I cant stand the wait.
If you question rather or not to ever attend an enduro, this is the place you should go for a good time racing an enduro. It will be a lot more fun than it is tough. This would be considered a fun run instead of an enduro.

I am going along with two othwer Florida boys (Wayne Briske and Brian Yates). We leave Saturday about 4 am and will drive straight to the sign-up.

Glad to hear about this one being "fun". Everyone I talked to says it's their favorite place to race.

Help me out, what makes it so fun?

Rick Reynolds

Up and down hills, around big rocks, up big rock, cross a creek or two with good bottoms, sometimes a mud hole or two(pick a good line), a sandy whoop or three . Sometimes I want to stop and just look around. This is one of the best woods riding places I have had the privilege to ride. Dust has not been a problem and the traction is usually great.Should be fun but at the end you will probably be ready to load your bike.

Exactly. It has some of the best terrain. Remember you are racing so please pull over if you are going to stop to admire the scenery.

This is not a good example of an enduro!!!! Its a lot of fun!! The trail is not as torturous as what most enduros tend to be. Its wide enough for a 4 wheeler yet it doesnt have the grooves made be them. It will be pure enjoyment. If you get worn out from this one, just wait til the next and see how you feel!!! This would be considered an easy enduro when you compare it to about any other. The worst thing here is going to be the heat. It looks like rain is in the forecast so even the heat wont be a problem maybe!
Whatever the case, it will be a great chance to come out and ride a fun course.

Thanks guys! I feel good about this one. Now if I could just snap my fingers and miss the 12 hour drive....

Posted by: craig_enid---------------------

Hoping to, if things come together.....

Posted by: bhiner---------------------

Where is the race? WhiteRock?

Posted by: RAHRAH---------------------

Bismark AR, its close to Hot Springs, really its halfway between HS and Arkadelphia. The Social Hill exit off of the interstate brings you a straight and windy road directly into Bismark. Check out the SERA or blackjack site for precise directions though.
The drive is well worth it.

"Big Nasty" is calling my name......

Posted by: lawman---------------------

Hey boys,

was up there working Sunday, the trails are in great shape & what I saw was very well-marked. I will be working this 1, sorry I will not be able to compete--but ya'll have fun!

PS gotta admire you Fla. boys, that is quite a drive. I bet you'll say it was worth it.

Posted by: skabeeb---------------------

Thanks Lawman!

It's a little nuts to drive that far (unless you're doing the nationals or getting paid) but we love to ride and have quite a contingency of riders between Pensacola and Destin that compete in SERA events (about 20 of us).

From what I've heard, it is supposed to be a great place to ride (unlike anything else in SERA). My buddy who competed in last year's short race told me the dirt is extra-special.

We're just praying for safe travel there and back...

Looking forward to pulling out. Haven't ridden this one, only White Rock in Arkansas. I hear great things and all these posts make me look forward to it even more.

Darin... time to update and add another bike to the list on your signature line.

Oh..and by the way, a big THANK YOU to Darin for prepping my bike since I am still somewhat lame!

I actually had a lot to change. I had to shorten the details, I think I have now outnumbered most dealers for number of orange bikes in one place.

Posted by: skabeeb---------------------

Hi Darin,

Are you a KTM dealer?

Posted by: Bandit9---------------------

I wish I had a personal mechanic like Motohead does!

Posted by: lawman---------------------

If I have to choose between Darin's mechanicking & his wife's gen-yoo-ine cajun cooking, I'll take the groceries every time!

No, I may need to become one, it would give me an oppurtunity to deduct some of my expenses.

Arkansas Dirt Riders.... Jerry, Lawman, RAHRAH. This was the most fun enduro I have been to!!! I was having such a blast until I got a flat on the front around 33 or 34 miles out. That, and that hill around mile 45 or 46 where there were bikes and bodies everywhere. I had a good line throught it and then someone launched there bike in front of me and I had to brake hard. When I did I lost my momentum and the back wheel slid down on the low side and I went over and tumbled down the hill. I was feeling like a hero for a few seconds and then went to zero in heart beat. Took me about 30 min and another guy's help to get out. He and I each pulled each other out of the bike trap to get going. He was a younger guy from Texas that goes by Tex and attends Auburn University. I don't know his real name, but to you. Without his help and our team work I would probably still be on the side of that hill!!

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

HA, Tex is my roommate. he said you guys spent a good bit of time at the base of that side hill. his real name is robert.

I met him at Clanton because I was asking him about his grill guard on his truck. I didn't know until we were pulling our bikes up the hill that we both rode the same class. Process of deduction seemed to me that it was Robert S. but I wasn't certain. I was sure glad for his help.

So, are you Will M.?

I met you at Meridian, and saw you at the 24-hour (I think, wasn't your pit just down from Bobby's #85?). I was hanging out with Bobby.

Posted by: motohead00---------------------

Does anyone know the name of the photographer that was there at the race and if he/she has a web address? I know I saw it some where but cannot think of what it is now.

Thanks,
Randy

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

yeah, we were pitted next to Snoop bob, james, and steve.

Posted by: skabeeb---------------------

That was a fun race but that hill and the carnage at 46 was a real mess!!! I made it through (after riding over that guy's Yamaha that was blocking the trail).

Up till that point, it was great!!

Posted by: prk03---------------------

The first loop was a lot of fun. The 2nd loop was tough. I saw a few riders who had all the fun they could stand. I think the trails were perfect. Thanks to the Arkansas Trail Riders for all the hard work. Anybody know the condition of the injured rider. The paramedics had him strapped on the back board when I came thru I think on the first loop.

Posted by: skabeeb---------------------

He face planted into a tree and broke his arm as well as a fracture to the area around the eye. He had surgery on his arm and will get the other done later this week. He told his wife to tell everyone he would be back to work on Wednesday.

I got this from the Black Jack site...

Posted by: Bandit9---------------------

Well that was certainly fun! I love that trail. I rode like a ding-dong on the first loop. Ping-ponging off trees, laying down in corners, hitting stumps, and I even managed to stall an auto clutch 3 times! 2nd loop was just the opposite, rode the best I have ever ridden. Go figure! The early row 10 strategy paid off. See ya'll in Wiggins.

Posted by: RAHRAH---------------------

Im glad everyone had a good time. The trail was great even with a few bottlenecks..
I worked check 10 and I got to ride loops 2 and 3. I enjoyed it a lot and even working was good.
I never realized how much actually had to go on for an enduro. these things are harder to put on than they are to ride. I know that I missed out on what was probably the funnest race of the year but Im still happy to see that everyone had a great time..
I had the pleasure of introducing about 3 people to enduros at this last one and now they seem to be hooked!!!! That was the day of the event for petes sake, what in the world are they thinking!!!!!
It must have really been a good time!!

Posted by: MARK IT---------------------

I dislocated a finger at the bottem of one of the ( what I'll call the rollercoaster hills) when I hit a
3" log and crashed out somewhere after check # 7. but the trail and course was great and the off
cambers where very demnanding for me, and I wont say I enjoyed them at all. Due to the dangerous
conditions I wouldnt call it fun, if on a trail ride it would be different though.
