It's official boys. Aluminum framed YZ for Reed next year and the following!

Posted by: burchdogs---------------------

Reed did sign with Yamaha but I'm not sure about the aluminum frame part? http://www.racerxill.com/061604_05_Yamahas.cfm

Posted by: Yogurt---------------------

If he rides the 250 he'll ride the new aluminum frame. But if he rides the 450F outdoors next year, he'll go back to riding on steel.

Honda must be kicking them selves in the butt for not renewing contracts with RC.

Posted by: bigpa---------------------

I have no doubt he'll ride the aluminum framed 2 smoke on SX . Good point about HRC and RC! They must be going all out now to get Bubba!

Posted by: zcookie49---------------------

Yeah, Reed said he in the intvw that he is happy with the deal. Then he said, "I got to see my 2005 SX bike (AF), and was VERY happy!"....
Good for Reedy, he has put in his saddle time to deserve it....
Batter up, Bubba!!!!!
I think Kawi is gonna dig up the money for him...
I read that Honda has been watching Hamblin, and has Alessi in the future.
Not a sure bet if you ask me.

What is Honda thinking first they let Valentino Rossi go to Yamaha, and then hardly seem to bat at eye at RC going to Suzuki. I wonder which bike RC will ride at MXDN? It would be so cool to see RC show up at MXDN on a Suzuki 450 and lay wood to the rest of the world! Or has Honda got Bubba but are keeping it under their hat?

Posted by: bigpa---------------------

Hmmm..good question! As for Rossi they must be kicking themselves by now!

Posted by: Chili---------------------

RC will still be under contract to Honda at the time of the MXDN, If the USA sends a team RC has already stated he will ride red at the MXDN.

Posted by: TheGrinch---------------------

I read at fullnoise.com.au that the sticking point in negotiations was Yamaha's instance that all team riders run the Yamaha team colors (how boring!). But the new contract allows Reed the freedom to spice it up a bit.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

I read something similar Grinch, Reed was actually considering leaving Yamaha because he had to wear gear that is primarily blue. Apparently it was a major sticking point in his contract. Sounds like a good reason to change teams lol! I'd wear pink gear if I someone wanted to give me a factory ride :thumb:

Of course that would also mean that I am fast, not old and in really good shape. I think I'll just remain a PPR. I can wear anything I want. Yeah. That's it.

Posted by: bigpa---------------------

Motonews reports that reed gets to wear his own colors at half the races. Apparently he's way above your level of ambition, Okie!

Posted by: TheGrinch---------------------

Agreed Okie, being upset about having to always wear blue & white gear all the time seems trivial in the overall picture, but I guess when you're at Chads level, little things like the insistance of Yamaha, may have been annoying enough for him to jump ship.

Besides, how boring of Yamaha is it to want their riders to wear the same coloured gear every race. Everyone nows if you want to go fast you've got to wear red!

Posted by: bigpa---------------------

Reed seems the type who could care less for the color clothes we'll wear as long as he can look like Mcgrath
It would appear that Thor was insisting on different color schemes on Reed so they can sell other colors than blue and white!

Are you serious? Another million = jumping ship.. the color of gear? I thought his name was Chad, not Paris (Hilton), lol. Like I said, if I had his deal, I'd wear pink if they wanted me to.

Pred, pull up the whambulance.

One of the mags, RacerX maybe, pointed out that editors shy away from the blue and white scheme for covers. I gathered it had to do with the magazines not standing out on the shelf. More covers means more exposure for his clothing sponsor which translates in to more money, probably through bonuses.

I'm sure that Chad doesn't care what he wears, but I would imagine that his outside clothing contract is worth a lot more if he can showcase more of their product. In particular, Thor doesn't want to be paying him for all that exposure and only appeal to the YZ mounted public.
