01' CR250 carb. question

I've read posts talking about filing the slide down 1mm on the Mikuni carb. What does this procedure do? How is it done? I ran a search on this topic but did not find anything.

It makes the jetting leaner in lower 1/3 of the throttle position. It does just alittle bit more than changing the pilot. On that bike jetting wise you should be around, 30 pilot, 1mm cut slide, h1- 76 needle 2nd clip, 420 main. that's for sea level and temps from 60-90f. Those specs should get you in the ball park.

Whitebrothers catalog has slides listed for fairly cheap. You might want to look into that before cutting.
