I have a 1997 cr80r and it stopped running correctly in august. It wouldn't hit the powerband and every time it got close it would just stay at a certain rpm. I was told it was fuel delivery, but I have cleaned the carburetor twice now and it still doesn't want to start or run for very long (no high rpms either) I am sure that it has spark and compression. Also when we were trying to start it I noticed that when you pull the clutch in, nothing happens. It still has resistance and it looks like it is working on the outside of the crankcase. If you try to move it in gear with the clutch pulled in, it will cause the motor to turn over. I don't know if it is the plates or what it is. I would like to find out and fix these problems soon so I can sell this bike to upgrade to a larger one.

The clutch basket finger probably have notches worn into them. this will prevent the clutch from disengaging. You can file them down it it's not too deep but it will happen again. Bets fix is a new basket.
