It wouldn't hurt to remove the entire pipe and check to see if you have carbon built up thick in the exhaust port. You will also be able to get a look at the bore that way. Check the basics, air getting in(clean air filter), air getting out, compression first. Pull the carb and get any gunk out of it. Especially check the air bleed passages in the throat of the carb and that the jets are clear.
