88' KX250 for $700? Should I buy?

I'm new to the sport...saw this on craigslist, and thinking about picking it up tonight. Found it on Ventura, CA's craigslist.
I spoke with him, sounds like a nice guy, says it run's good and reliable, comes with about $400 of spare parts. Is it worth it? or should I spend a few more hundred and get something newer.

If you haven't already decided My opinion is I would hold out and spend a few more bucks to get something a bit newer. When I first decided to get a bike in 2000 I went the old bike route and bought a 1992 YZ250. It was a good bike but once I started to ride it more and make repairs I had a tough time finding some parts for it. You can go the e-bay route but never know what you will get for your money. If you can afford it try to stay at least 1999
