Cracked cylinder base on a 85 yamaha it 250

My 85 yamaha IT 250 has a small hairline crack at the base of the cylinder which is were the front right cylinder base nut is located. It also weepes. Can I get this welded without it cracking again? Thanks.

well I can't guarente it won't crack again, but it is worth getting it welded if you can get it done, this way you won't buying a new cylinder. :nod:

also JB weld has done wonders for me when i'm in a jam. :)

If you weld the cylinder be careful not to get the cylinder liner too hoe as it will turn blue and get out of round . Also the base of the cylinder should be turned back true on a lathe with an expanding mandrel thru the bore .

Does that mean I have 2 take the cylinder sleeve out of it? Also what are the chances of it crackin again. The crack is only 1 inch long so it wouldont be very hard to weld. Also what is involved with welding a crack. Thanx.
