has any one rebuilt an engine on a yz 85? is it really hard to do? how do you do it? could i do it my self in my garage with my dad or do i have to take it to the shop to get done? and also how much did it cost when you got done?

do it yourself.
Our local shop charges $60 an hour for work they do.....
I bought a factory service manual,it was $57. well worth the money.Clymer manuals were like $35.
I split my cases also to do a rod bearing.

I have seen kits online that include gaskets also.(everything you need to do the job)

thanx for the info i willl see if i can buy a munual for it. also why did you have to split the cases and get the rod bearings?? would it be worth it for me to do it to?

the lower end rod bearing was bad. the manual will explain how to check all of that stuff when you follow the steps to do the top end.
