I'm a newbie here. I see a lot of people making a lot of effort to ride this ride. Is it all about the ride or is there other stuff going on too.

If you guys could fill me in a little ... I'd appreciate it.

YES!!!

The Reno ride is a blast. About half the crew camps at Moonrocks and the other half stays at the Peppermill in Reno. Everyone usually rides Fri-Sat-Sun. Some people on Thurs and some on Mon. I believe the ride is scheduled for Feb 18-20th. Last year, we had a few big group dinners (pizza buffet Friday night, Mexican buffet Saturday night) and after dinner, the "in town" crew hung out in the casinos drinking and gambling and having a good time while the "Moonrocks" crew had their own good time at the riding area. The riding is awesome - wide open desert-hill style riding. Pick a hill and go climb it. A few natural style MX tracks in the middle of nowhere. Lots of cool trails and paths. Some rocks lots of fun sandy whoops and nice dirt. Last year, a group of people went snowboarding/skiing somewhere around Lake Tahoe on Friday as well. Great riding trip for mid-February and an awesome crew of people. I'd definately recommend checking it out!

An SV in the garage as well. :aj:

Yep, and nicely modded, I might add.

I actually think it has improved my dirtbiking, especially the front brake work.

Howdy Strick!

Just got an advertisement from the Pepper Mill yesterday and it started me thinking....

Are we going to have a Moonrocks 2005? If so, we are there!

hmmmm.... You know what. I think I'm just going to go and make reservations any way. Moonrocks, and that time of year, is enough of a reason to get the hell out of Dodge and go ridin'.......

See you in Feb.!

About time you saw the light!! How do you like the 450?

Funny how with street & dirt, each type of riding helps your skills on the other type. I find I have more confidence in leaning on turns in the dirt since I've been riding street.

I know I wouldn't have started riding street if I wasn't confident in the dirt. Trees hurt but cars would hurt worse!!!

I tried out a CRF450 a few weekends ago - nice ride but I didn't appreciate the starting once stalled on a hill. Guess the new CRF450X will have the magic button. I have never been a proponet of estart BUT after kicking on the 450 & trying not to slide back down the hill, I think it may be a benefit.

Is the Reno Ride fun?

Does a fat baby sweat?!!!! Get over and check it out. Just don't take your whiney soon to be ex-fiance, drive 36 hours straight to get there and only ride one day because she doesn't get the whole dirtbike experience and can't enjoy the other people's company because they "only talk about dirtbiking". :bang: :bang: :bang:

But honestly it is a blast and now that I am single again, I am going to do my best to make it to the ride. :ride:

I talked with Moteaux last night and he is going to do everything possible to be there this year. Whoo Hooo!!!

Way too much fun to miss. I am pulling a trailer load of bikes out this year again. 1,681 miles from my house to Strick's house via Albuquerque.

You are a LOT closer and you will regret not coming once the rumors of the fun in Reno start to surface. Head out to the interstate and catch a ride on the Canuck express that will be heading south for the gathering!

Heck, Reno is soooo much fun one attendee is going to fly after swearing off that activity following years in the airplane maintenance biz. Isn't that like they say about not ever visiting the kitchen of a restaurant where you eat. ;)

Daily schedule ...

Day 1

7:00 AM - Drag your butt out of bed, dress and eat breakfast.
8:00 AM - Load up and head to Moonrocks
8:30 AM - Arrive, and organize ride groups
9:00 AM - Head out ...
5:00 PM - Return from the last ride of the day to find ...
5:01PM - Somebody is firing up the motoblender
6:00PM - Head to town, do the ol' SSS routine
7:30PM - Dinner with the gang
10:00PM - Meet at the Fireside Lounge for a drink ..
10:05PM - Repeat above, comment on patch on waitress' chest near her ... uh ... you know.
11:30PM - Hit the bed after a short five minute stroll from the Fireside Lounge.

Day 2 - Repeat Day 1 :aj:

Reno is SO damn fun! I flew all the way from Rhode Island to go on this ride last year...I wasn't going to go because I had no way of getting my bike there. Then it all changed...Strick happened to notice that my bike listed was an XR200, well wouldn't you know that Strick has an XR200, so he offered it up to me. He hauled it down to Moonrocks and it was ready to ride when I got there. So I booked my flight and off to Reno I went. Let me tell you...I'll never miss this trip again. Between the riding, the friends, the dirt hockey, and the motoblender this a trip well worth the time! You've got to go!!!!

Hence the reason my wife hasn't gone....

I've been every year and will do my best to make it this year even if it's just for a day.
