kdx water pump

I have a 2001 Kdx 220. Coolant has started seeping from the weep hole near the drain plug. I assume the mechanical seal is bad. Is it necessary to replace the bearing and oil seal also? It seems that the mechanical seal can be removed and replaced without disturbing the bearing and oil seal. The manual says to replace all three items. This bike appears to have low hours on it. I am the third owner. This bike is cosmetically cherry. I was suprised that the water pump failed. Not enough usage? I do not want to replace parts that are not worn.
