Hi There,

I just picked up a 1989 KX500 for a really good price considering the entire engine was rebuilt last year with 2 rides on it, along with the suspension was tuned in and the bike is in incredible shape. Alot of the guys from work have sleds and go snomobiling quite often. I wanted to take my KX500 and put on one of those track kits in particular the Switchblade kit and run this bike on the snow. The guys I am going to be riding with are all on Mach 1000 Ski-doos and I was wondering if this would be a good bike as far as this conversion or any ideas would be greatly appreciated as far as tuning for winter and different ideas of what Icould do. Thanks.

Well I can tell you right now you'll never keep up the sleds through the deep stuff and hills. On less snow and packed trails and roads you would do ok, but you wouldn't have the track surface area to float on the deep snow. You would also be down 500ccs.
