Strick - be sure to check the cam bearing in case that is the source of your flywheel destroyer. There is an updated part for a screen behind the flywheel to stop cam bearing parts from entering the gearbox/crank area and vice versa.

Strick, I feel for you. I lost my beloved 87 Kaw EX500 twin (streetbike) to a similar malady. One morning it wouldn't start for the Sunday Morning Ride. There wasn't a piece of magnet bigger than half a dime, and there were lots and lots of pieces all over the place. :(

Once inside, 4th gear is gone, so I'm gonna put in a new top end as well, along with the new stator and flywheel.

Now $900!

I can't wait to do it again next year, but I am going to borrow a bike.
