I'm looking for an enduro that won't cost as much as my truck to get me back and forth to work, but I still want to play in the dirt. I travel about 50km a day, at 80 to 100k per hour. Not on a highway.

1) your physical size (both height and weight are important)
-5'10 200lbs
2) How physical / aggressive are you ?
-yes to both
3) what do you plan to ride- MX/SX tracks, woods, fields with friends or ?????
-mostly road, woods and field on the weekend
4) Do you have any riding experience?
-grew up on a 100 Kow, 175 Yami, 450 Nighthawk
5) Do you think you will race ?
-no
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work?
-yea, I can turn a wrench
7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)?
-nope, I just looking for a good dirty commuter
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry?
-yea, Honda, Suzuki,
9) How much ($) do you plan to spend on a bike?
-5,000
10) Do you live in California?
-no
11) Your age?
-40
12) anything else that you think would help form an opinion

That about sums it up.
Thanks for any help. :)

drz400. xr650. ktm? yamaha wr? Not alot of street legal dirt bikes. Go to the dealer and see what he has. Probly won't have any luck finding a ktm or wr w/no dealer support locally. Better to buy something you can get dealer support on anyway.

Be patient! Sometimes it takes a day or two for us to help out around here... :whoa:

Are you looking to buy a new bike? Or will you be able to find used?

For new, I'd suggest either a Honda CRF 250X, or CRF 450X.

For used, I'd strongly recommend a Honda XR 250. I've had some experience with this bike, and it is great all around. It is pretty much bullet proof, you don't need to mix gas, and it can also be made street legal with few modifications.

Something used would be good enugh.

Would a 250 be fast enough for the road?

I don't want be WOT just to keep it at 80K.

The kdx and drz400's are the same bike.

Probly not. You'de need to push it pretty hard to run that speed.

80 k?

That's right around 48 mph if I calculate things correctly...And the XR 250 is very capable of that speed. And will maintain it without stressing the engine in the least.
