So this morning I drop my dog off at the groomer and then head home. As I'm making a left onto Tustin I notice a van stopped in the middle of the street and 3 people scuffling on the corner. One is a clean cut Hispanic lady that looks to be in her mid 20's with a small cart of groceries, one is a clean cut white guy about 40 and the other appears to a down on his luck/homeless guy. The homeless guy has a grip on the lady's shirt and it trying to hit her as the other man is trying to separate them with out much luck. People driving by are yelling and honking their horn for them to break it up. I pull my truck up onto the sidewalk so I'm not in the street and run over to assist. As I approach the white guy ask if I can help get the homeless man off of the gal. So I grab him in a wrist lock and spun him around as the other man was now able to break the guys grip on this poor lady that looked like she was scared to death. Now the guy is trying to hit me with his free hand so I just keep spinning him until he stops. Once we had them separated the white guy escorted the lady across the street. After she was safely across the street I released the the man from the wrist lock and he just keep yelling that she stole his smokes. The white guy returns and pulls out five bucks and offers it to the homeless guy to go by some more smokes. Right about this time a lady pulls up and starts to call out to the homeless guy by name (Eddie). She said she was his case worker and asked if we could get him into her car. We asked the guy if he knew her and he said yes. So I picked up the guys hat and jacket as the other guy helped him into the lady's car. We gave her a quick rundown of what happened and off they went. So now it was just me and the good citizen. I asked how long the scuffle was going on before I arrived and he said he was trying to separate them for at least five minutes and he was getting winded. He thanked me for helping him and then asked if I have seen the program "What would you do?". I said I have and he replied..."Now you know what you would do. Thanks." Then he gave me a high-five and we jumped into out vehicles and left. My arm is a bit sore from all the tugging but well worth it. I could not imagine this happening to my wife, sister, mother or any lady that I know and no one coming to their aid.
