yamaha 250 YZ 2003 Tune Pipe

If the fiberglass packing in the spark arrester of my FMF Tune pipe for my exhaust is missing..will it

affect the performance

or damage the any the other components/parts or engine of the bike


any input is greatly appreciated.

I suppose I will be louder than normal, cannot see any reason that it would affect performance or reliability. Packing is cheap and easy to do, any shop will carry it.

Blown out packing will let the exhaust flow outward through the perforations in the core, slowing the whole exhaust flow down. I changed my packing a few weeks back, it was very burnt out after some jetting/dune riding experiments gone lean. Back to back I noticed crisper thorttle response and a little more umph down low.
