2016 YZ250 and I have a question about cleaning the power valve. Obviously if I completely remove the engine I can clean the power valve. Or if I removed the cylinder I could clean it. My question is, can I leave the cylinder on and clean the valve? Is there enough accessibility or is this a must remove the cylinder to do??

Thanks

Mike, when I did mine I had the engine completely out of the frame. I am glad I did because the hex head bolts (I think they were hex head) inside the power valve had to be heated to get them to break free.

You need to take the cylinder off to clean the power valve. The front cover screws and the power valve linkage screws on the main power valve shaft are just about impossible to get to while the cylinder is in the frame .
Plus - if the power valves are dirty - its needs a top end to.
