Jeremy, i see you are the new proud owner of the CRF250- just out of interest, does it have a different generation frame than the 450 and what is the scoop on this bike having a push at the front and not being able to turn well? does it really have a push? can it be tuned out, or will it need clamps, links or all the other tweaks like the 02CRF???

thanks

Bruce

Bruce,
When I rode the bike the first time it was Aj's personal 250 and we where doing some final testing on the CR500AF for a rush Magazine deal.. The only place we could ride was a really cool indoor Track in IN... Not the place for 70+ Horsepower Power Junkie bike.. If Riding really is a addiction then the Af is the end of the line in that addiction.. Your XR75 may be the entry point kind of like that first beer in a college bar (Up to that point you only Drank beer because it was cool), your 125 is the mid level addiction and a 250 is a flirtation with real endangerment.. A CR500AF is straight up Crack/Meth/Heroin....Well only in this way (I'm an attic) And I really like the 500 but timing the small and step doubles was a bit of a risk... After 3 laps I was pummeled...

My KTM was back at the shop, and I could not resist the sirens call of that little 250F.. I got on it and ripped out some fun and fast laps. I was hooked...

Now to the point..
On the tight track with really good dirt it felt great.. Turned good, I noticed a little vague in the fastest corner, but I did not think much of it.. On the AX style coarse the stock suspension was lose but plenty stiff in terms of bottoming resistance... The engine felt awesome as well.. I really liked the bike and when KTM USA kyboshed my 450SXS deal I knew what I was getting..

On fast outdoor tracks it does push.. More than push I describe it as a reluctance to offer feedback at the bar.. You don't have a good feel for whether its going to stick or slide.. If your aggressive it steers fine with the rear wheel :)

I've just started learning about the bike.. I've got it working much better and I'm going to keep working with it.. I've gathered that the Factory teams runs a Axle 2mm closer to the center line of the fork.. That would be the same as lowering clamp offset numbers, and increasing Trail.. (A similar fix works for KTM's....)

BR,
Jer

Jeremy, i know you dont have a crystal ball, but does the 250F have a different frame setup than the 450F? and is there any info about the 05 450F getting the next generation frame?

i am forward planning here, but i am thinking about a 450, maybe an 04 at the end of the summer or an 05 when they come out- i dont want to get the 04 if they start running a much different bike for 05- if i get the 05, lets hope they have sorted out the push, LOL

cheers
