I picked up this bike tonight and I know that it's a 100cc Kawasaki and I know it's a 1973. From the regi papers that came with it, the last time it was insured was in 1993 and it's been sitting undercover since

Any ideas what model it is? Any tips for something that's been sitting this long?

Thanks in advance

I had a 78km100 that looked just like that but it was blue. I was 10 at the time so don't ask for any tech help.

You mean that's not the factory paint???

HAH!! I think the previous owner spent so much on spray cans, that he didn't have any coin left over for a wrench or masking tape!!

Are you going to strip it down and refinish it?? I wouldn't think it would be too hard to take the paint off.

If I can get it running strong without too much trouble, I'll probably strip the paint off.

It definitely has some.... character lent to it from the PO. The paint for one. He also had an engraver he liked to use. Found his name carved on the side of the case and shift points (high and low) carved on the handlebars :)

IT's not a KE..... KEs didnt come out till 1975

thats either a g5 or this 1973 f6b. it matches your bike as far as look but looking at what the previous owner did to it the fenders have probally been changed on yours, ill keep looking but sofar this is close.

reason i say g5 is it looks close to mine as will, which is a 74.

g5b 100

That bike looks pretty close to a g5b100.i had a 1975,It was a 6 volt system, enduro. I set it up like a dirt bike. The gear pattern was 5 up. The exhaust looks just like my bike.Thats my guess.

That blue bike looks just like my 75g5b100.My bike was gold metal flake.Got the bike in 78 for $350.00.i rode it for 4 years. My next bike was a f11-250.Loked like my G5Bs older brother.I flew over 2 cars and a 18 wheeler. I saw the 2 cars crash(watched the parts flying way high in the air) and i ran up the driver side of the car i was behind,Hit the turned out front wheel and me/bike and my passenger took flight.I was knocked out and woke up just getting ready to land(i was about 15-20 ft in the air. i stopped sliding about 120 ft from the accident. My bike was turned around facing the car.the police thought i ran into the front end, witnesses saw me fly and slide.I had road rash on both arms, both legs and my hips,my passenger had a chuck of his butt scooped out. I walked away from this into the ambulance. The Dr at the hospital told me you should not be here,You should be in the basement with the dead people. I was on the front page of every paper in south jersey.

Looks like a trail boss. Its got the dual range gearing I think. Actually pretty collectable. What are the first few characters on the frame number? The model number is usually contained in there. G4 something or maybe G5. Neat little bike!

If it is a 1973 it is a G4 trail boss it was candy red. Cherish those fenders they are hard to find . Look on the top of the right case the numbers should start with G40000001

i know, but the only reason some people believe ke100 goes back to 72 is because they look so similar, but in 1974 the kawasaki g5 changed in a lot of ways, one being the way the engine cases them selves were designed, after 75 kawasaki renamed the g5 name to ke im guessing because they whanted to add bigger engine sizes such as the ke 175. i also believe ke stands for kawasaki enduro. also though 1974 and before kawasaki made the g4 trailboss models which had the chrome fenders and a few other items. your bike is quite more collectable than any ke or g5. another thing which is wierd is that if you look at my g5 picture in an earlier post you will notice it has an early g4 cylinder. i found out the hard way that it was the wrong cylinder because the wisco piston i bought didn't fit. why a g4 crank and cylinderhead were in a g5 engine? i will never know.

Got the same 73

Mine runs great except for a tricky transmission shifter on the right grip. It changes from low gears for off road to highgear for highway use. It sticks and switches to high on it own sometimes. The owners manual doesn't explain how to use it too well either. I am missing the muffler guard. any tips where to look for one?

It's a KE100, wearing a bunch of spray paint.
O.k guys I just picked this up a couple of days ago had not even looked at the ID plate yet for exact model of which 1973 G5 100 it is, pretty sure it was the Enduro. bike is complete with good compression, all gears engage, clutch works, Just missing the Coil which I ordered already, has a few minor Gas Tank holes near the fuel Petcock but other than that might be fairly easy to get running. Pictures attached
