I will begin my winter overhaul / project this weekend on a '84 CR80R.

Apparently it was a runner prior to issues with the stator/flywheel. I can see why the current owner is walking away as the $ and availability of electrical parts for this bike is poor.

I'd be curious to know if the flywheel from later bike (86-97) would fit the crank... if so I'd convert the whole system.

Anyway, here's a pic of the beast, wish me luck!

i think that the parts should be the same for practically every year of the cr80 except pre-1983 just check and see if your bike has a cdi ignition with the little black box if it doesnt your probly limited to anything 1990 and older

After closer inspection, the shaft the flywheel mounts to is egg shaped, the keyway is probably twice the size it should be (ie sloppy) and the flywheel nut threads are knackered. Fantastic.

So, I'll be on the hunt for a CR80 bottom end (1983, 1984). The good news is that it does have decent compression.

I'll also be hunting for an expansion pipe and sub frame (cracked in two).

Wow, what a pail this one is.

I always wanted an early L/C CR80 Joe. I'm pretty much converted to this being a parts bike, I definitely need a more solid foundation.
