Hey all. Giving some serious thought to buying a used KTM. Budget is an issue so I will probably be heading toward the older side of things. So my question is: are there any bad years I should be steering clear of in the 200's? Any point at which they drastically improved or haven't changed much since? Not sure why but I feel like I should be shooting for 2000 and newer, but are the late 90's ok too? Thanks

They are all fun.

The forks changed from conventional style to upside down models in 2000, I think.
There are some good suspension guys who can make the old style forks work very well, so I would not let that be a deciding factor.

heard of occasional tranny & crank issues on the early yrs. 2003 & 2004 had suspension issues in stock form. 2005 to present had no significant issues that i know of. i think the first yr of the 200 was 1998 or 1999.

I had a '98 model and 3 others since. They're all pretty good. I would just try and get the newest one you can afford. The '10 model I have now seems to be the best of the bunch.
