Hey Chili, I find pretty much the same thing with center point on my 1D. The only time I switch from center is for static shots.

Shhhh Emile that is one of the rationalizations I'm using for trying to go to the 1Dmk2 is the improved AF

I have tried AI Servo and Single shot.. But, with some of the tips I have gotten from this thread, I am going to go out and see what happens this weekend.

part of the challenge is keeping the little red square on the target. much easier if you set your focus to center-only.

I did a few test shots tonight. I am quite pleased with the results.

As you can see in the Exif data, this was taken about 8:37 pm. It had started to get pretty dark out, and the track lights
had not yet come all the way on.

I think I will finally be able to get some good pictures in better light.

I had purposely tried to shoot in as bad of conditions that I could, and still get something usable. Before your tips, this shot would have been one massive blur.

Yeah, I didn't do anything to the pic.. No tweaking.. And I am shooting raw.

I just converted it for upload, and had to reduce quality to 95% so that I could post it. Otherwise, I didn't do jack.
