clutch not releasing

i changed my right side crank seal on my 98 yz250 and when i put everything back together the clutch somewhat disengages but not completely still engaged enough to stall the bike when static. I've tried adjusting by the lever and even pulled the case cover back off and nothing out of the ordinary. has anyone had this happen to them?

Yes. How did you hold the clutch basket when you removed the crank gear nut?
If you improvised with something on/in/against the basket fins, you may have bent them.
Have you tried clutch adjustment at the gearbox case first?
